Fox News just reported that a WWII Veteran who was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded on Okinawa was fatally beaten while sitting in his vehicle outside the Fraternal Order of Eagles clubhouse in Spokane. Police say that Delbert Belton was found by officers and transported to a local hospital where he died this morning. Authorities are searching for two young men ages 16 and 19 who were seen in a security video in the area.

I have a deep and abiding respect of the highest order for those Great American Heroes whose service in WWII literally saved our nation and the world from the unspeakably evil Axis Powers. With these Great Americans leaving us more and more each day it breaks my heart to see one of them lose his life in such a senseless, cruel fashion. Regarding the human excrement who perpetrated this vile act of animal savagery, I just can't say what I am thinking as it would surely get me barred from this wonderful forum. My prayers are with Mr. Belton, his loved ones and friends and may God have mercy on us for allowing our society to sink to the depths we are currently experiencing all too often today.

We should take the 2 teens to Afghanistan, unarmed. Maybe then they could get a feeling on which hell that veteran survived.
I am so angry. This man fought for the freedom of the future generations only to get killed by two thugs who don't even know what other people sacrificed for them :mad:

To have lived through hattes and then be beaten to death by teens, I would like to be on the jury as I believe in eye for an eye .

Back I my day you harmed an old person you didn't need to worry about the police. My family would have taken care of it.

These kids can not justify picking on someone that might harm them so they pick on the old and defenseless.

This new sickens me, there is nothing that I can say to express my disgust of the teens involved.
May God rest Mr. Belton's soul, I pray that he is in heaven with his wife.
 
There are so few of these heroes of the Greatest Generation left. They should be honored, not beaten to death.

But if he defended himself, against two (presumed) unarmed thugs, he would have suffered the ordeal of fighting the courts, sure he would have gotten off, but it would break him financially and emotionally.

I'm sorry, something is terrible wrong here. It's sickening to say the least.
 
FOX just reported that one of the perps has been caught. He will quickly give up the other. This one will be interesting to follow.
 
If you really want to get steamed... read some of the reader comments on many of the mainstream "news" web sites.

Too many folks today refuse to look at the world as it is... but rather continue to obfucate and spin the facts into the world that they "hoped" it would be.
