Wyoming Factoid…

Yes I have been to Wyoming.
Yes I have been to Casper.
But ain’t never been inside a Casper Bank.
‘It's also and some fun trivia to baffle your friends! So today we're testing your Wyoming trivia and asking - Do you know where the escalators are located? Both escalators are in Casper banks! One is located at First Interstate Bank, the other is at Hilltop National Bank.’

I believe that factoid is true. I’m familiar with both of those banks, and I can’t think of another place in the State that has an escalator. Our total population is about 570,000 so, yes, there are lots of cities that are bigger. One wag said we’re really just one large town with very long streets, and there’s a certain amount of truth to that. This can be a harsh, isolated place sometimes and I’m fine with that. Keeps the riff raff out.

I always enjoyed getting directions to locations in Wyoming. Everyone knows the cardinal directions (north, east, south, west). The number of cattle guards can be very helpful. Counting windmills is frequently involved. And, of course, all directions start out from "the tree"; everyone knows where the tree is because there is only one every hundred miles or so. Getting supplementary directions to the tree marks us as outsiders, which can result in all sorts of practical jokes.

I was once directed by a convoluted route to a T-intersection across from a fenced pasture with a 3-legged cow as a reference point. Sure enough, I found it.

Do Wyoming bars still offer drive-thru service? Order a round of cocktails and a six-pack, then head on down the road. Very handy!

Yes, they do. Package liquor only, though. Used to be you could get a mixed drink or a shot at the window but I believe that finally stopped as being a bit over the top.

There used to be a store in Green River that was a combination liquor store/pharmacy/gun shop. You could get your alcohol, your drugs and your guns and never leave the convenience of your car. It was a great place!

I pulled into Casper for gas and used the card reader on the pump (I thought) filled the tank and left. A few miles up the road a guy pulls up next to me and says you forgot to pay for your gas. So I went back and paid at the counter. The whole state is just a small town ;-)

I dread places that don't have "pay at the pump". I just know that one day I'm going to commit a drive off.

Back in the 80s there was a drive through liquor store on the west end of Lafayette,CO. It was conveniently located a few miles from the trap range. They had a rule about no drinking until Tuesday night trap league was over [emoji1]
The liquor store is now a strip mall with a King Soopers anchor and the trap range is another golf course community with rolling hills bordering the north end. I’ll bet those homebuyers were surprised when the wind shifted from the north and they learned about the huge landfill on the other side [emoji13][emoji849]

This is the sort of scenery that sort of unhinges some folks. There’s lots of this here.

I once dated a girl who returned from a trip to the North of England saying "I don't do bleak". That outlook would give her the screaming ab-dabs.
