Anybody manage to fit the Model 500 grips to a Square butt 686-3? I believe these X grips are made more for a round butt, but if I can Dremel/cut them to fit then I'll probably buy a set.

Has anybody tried this?

Cheers, -K

They are round butt only. They will fit K/L & N frame round butts. Since they enclose both the front and back of the grip frame it would be pretty much impossible to modify them.

Adios,

Thanks Bob. Guess I'll keep looking! I wonder if the Hogue wooden grips are a bit fatter than their standard rubber offering.
I find them too slim.

Looking at the fit from the opposite direction maybe the following picture will help you out. It shows the gap of a Pachmayr square butt N frame grip on a round butt N frame. The Pachmay's Sq butt grips will work on an early round butt N frame but the fit is loose.

I think you're out of luck trying to fit the X frame grips to a square butt... especially when the X frame grips are one piece.

Thanks very much for the help with this. I will look into some othe grips.
I like the feel of the Hogues, but they are too thin. Maybe some Rodewood is in my future.
