I was fond of the Springfield Xds several months ago however I could not justify paying $200 more than a shield. Today at my LGR I played with a post recall XDS and let me tell you that the trigger pull has tremendously change. So glad I own a Shield.

Wasn't impressed with the trigger on a XDs 45 I rented last week that had just been returned from recall. The pull wasn't bad, but trigger seemed to stick a bit when released.

Had one light strike also.

Loved the feel of the XDs 9mm pre recall. Hate, hate, hate the trigger now. Had the husband feel the trigger on one yesterday at a local gun show. He couldn't believe how heavy it now is. I was lusting after one, now, not so much.

Before the recall my XDs 45 was my everyday carry. Bought the Shield while it was gone. Post recall the trigger is crisp but heavier. Now Shield is everyday carry and XDs is a safe queen. May sell it.

I had carried the XDS45 and like many have mentioned, the trigger feels to me like it is much heavier post-recall. It does function fine and it was not designed to be a target/range gun so a heavier trigger is not an end all for me for CC.

While it was gone I started carrying double stacks full time again and now I just don't see the need for me to go back to the XDS right now. The XDS45 loaded weight was about 26 ounces and the M&P40c loaded is about 30 ounces and the Glock 30S is 30 ounces. With a good holster, I find these double stacks are no more difficult to carry so I am in no rush to put the XDS back in to daily service.

I'll likely not get rid of the XDS as I do like the .45 caliber and for times when I need to tuck in my shirt, the width of a single stack can make that a little easier. Am waiting to see if reports of a new spring set from PRP might help put the trigger feel back to something close to pre-recall.

I don't have any issue with the passive grip safety as I don't have to swipe anything. In my opinion for certain modes of carry, like AIWB, a safety can be a positive item when it is used during the re-holstering process.

So, if you haven't sent your XDs in for recall should you chance it and not have it modified?
The pre recall Xds had a fantastic trigger.
Springer never said how many actual failures there were.

I don't know how my post recall trigger is because Springfield still has it...Pre recall I loved it, but I take a lot of inexperienced shooters out for their first range sessions and despite having to do the hokey pokey to get the failure, I thought maybe someone would find a way and thus, sent it in. If the trigger is a pound or so heavier I can deal with it, if it completely changes feel for the worse I'll consider sale.

SA was vehement about sending in the guns. Their attitude is for another discussion so we don't hijack this one. I only heard about a handful of ADs with the XDs. Not too bad considering there are upwards of 50,000 out there...unless you were one of those handful. I wouldn't chance not sending it in for safety mainly but also liability wise.
