On May 23rd a dealer sent me a gun I had purchased Priority Mail. I'm glad it didn't go regular mail. It would probably be in China right about now waiting for that slow boat back home. The gun is coming to Connecticut from New Jersey.
Here's the newest tracking results.:) I have to keep a sense of humor or go postal.:)

I sent something from Dallas to an address in Oklahoma...it went to Wisconsin to be processed.

This is obviously a government operation! :p

Colt shipped back my WWII repro after sending it in for a recall. Went UPS from Hartford Ct to Newark NJ and back to me in NY. I live right neat I84 and I684, the gun had to have passed by my house.

Just had a letter I sent out Certified Return Receipt....It was delivered....and the green card came back...UNSIGNED!

Postman apparently took it off back of letter and sent it back.

Court documents....had to have signature...restricted delivery...

Had to do it all over again.

Sent a guy in New Zealand some scope rings in a padded envelope. The same day(Monday) I sent my Mom a card; she lives 70 miles away, 2 counties east. You guessed it; the guy in New Zealand got the stuff Friday, Mom got her card an Saturday.

Not to spoil the fun, but I'll give 'em credit when its due. I had somebody mail something to me late yesterday afternoon, about 50 miles from here. Big 9x12 envelope, pretty thick. I got it this morning.

I can ship a holster from Tennessee to Oregon in two to three days for about $5. I don't know if I could drive it there as fast. I've had very good luck with the post office.

IMO you should consider it a Plus that it didn't make it west of the Missisippi. Sometimes when I see tracking data on the path a shipped item takes it reminds me of the "Join the Navy and See the World" ad campaigns.

I always use the USPS when I can. Their rates are about half of UPS and I've had very good luck with prompt delivery and receipt of packages. I recently shipped a case of ammo to a business address a couple of states away. I had to ship it via UPS. By the time I had UPS add insurance and UPS added their fuel surcharge and delivery area surcharge, I was into it for close to $38.00.

I pay for my postage online and print it out, tape it to the package, request a pickup... can't complain, I don't even have to get dressed or start up the Jeep!

USPS has been a lifesaver for my business in shipping cast bullets. I also use them for shipping all my guns. It is very seldom that there is a problem. I couldn't ask for any better.

I would rather trust USPS than UPS. I hate orders shipped UPS "3 day select". Order picked up on Monday and processed, goes to the central hub on Tuesday, spends Wednesday and Thursday in Transit to my local hub where it arrives at 4AM Friday Morning. UPS then holds it and delivers on Monday at 5PM-How is 7 full days from their picking up the order "3 day select"??

UPS "Standard" is even more asinine. They will not deliver the item before at least five days from the date of original pick-up has passed. I love the tracking updates. I ordered an item from Ohio-about 200 miles from my house. UPS received the package on Monday, it arrived in New Stanton, PA on Tuesday afternoon (40 miles from my house). Sent to Indiana, PA Wednesday and arrived there at 4:40 AM (5 miles from me!).
Out for Delivery-- guess when-Next Monday!! They held the package for 4 additional days in the facility 5 miles from me just because it was "Standard" delivery. USPS does NOT pull that ****.

I've had very good luck with the USPS. The problems have normally been my fault. Transposing numbers on the address or zip, boxes not sealed properly, etc.

I sent a wrench and feeler gauges for a Dan Wesson revolver once by mail to a friend in Northern Ontario. On the customs declaration I called it a wrench as my friend warned me Canadian postal services don't like guns or gun parts.
It never made it to him and don't know which postal service messed up. I suspect the Canadian postal service opened it and found Dan Wesson printed on the wrapper inside and pitched it.

I sent a package, a pair of Danner boots back to the factory on 4.25.11, guess what, nobody has seen hide nor hair of them. The local PO is basically giving me the TS speech because (I know, I know) I didn't get a tracking #. A pair of size 13 Danner boots isn't a small package, not to mention the 12 plus bucks in postages, ok, a very expensive lesson learned! Good luck...
