Year & Box?

Hi All,
I am looking at a smith with an 8 3/8 barrel. I was wondering if that was standard on a no dash m57


Did it ship like that from the factory? Any help is appropriated.

Yes, the Model 57 was cataloged with barrel lengths of 4, 6, and 8 3/8 inches.

Sure, direct yourself to Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson 4th Edition, pages 50-55......Ben

The box should be the two piece blue "Bangor Punta" box and s/n N747335 puts it right around 1980, give or take. S&W didn't always ship in s/n order, so there's some overlap.

Oops…thanks, Bill for clarification on that. Did all 57's come in presentation boxes? I had thought it was an option.
