For me it is a 20 inch BCM government profile upper with Gunslinger Charging Handle, BCM Bolt Carrier Group, with fixed front sights (I use UTG) and fixed rear peep sights (I use UTG), Magpul hand guard, and a DPMS Levang Linear Muzzle Brake, with Magpul 30 round magazines. I shoot 75 grain BTHP ammo in it. I still have not put a sling on it, but I probably will soon.

If I had to grab one rifle in a SHTF situation, that would be it. There is nothing fancy on it. It is relatively inexpensive, it is a very simple, and it is a fairly lightweight setup. However, it is as rock solid as any AR-15 I can think of anywhere in its price range.

Here is mine.

The base rifle is a BCM midlength with Magpul Moe stock and handguard and an ergo grip. It has a Geissele super dynamic 3 gun trigger and an Aimpoint PRO optic. The BUIS is Magpul. The suppressor is a Gemtech G5T. I have 20 Magpul 30 round magazines, 4 thermold 20 rounders, and a bit over 2000 rounds of ammo.

Through CDNN you can buy Colt ARs with Magpul furniture for about $1200. Mags are coming down but ammo is still pricy. I would say it is a bit over double 9 months ago levels.

This is my SHTF gun. Be aware if you're thinking of getting into black rifles that they are a bit like Barbie dolls for men. The "extras" run the price up substantially.

Optic = $420
Trigger = $325
Magazines = $15 each
Ammo is over $600/1000 at today's price
I paid $1400 plus the stamp cost for the suppressor. BTW, it is still loud!

I'd probably go with the WalMart Colt 6920 at $1097+. The Sig 400 is a hundred $ cheaper, some say better. JK, I shot a suppressed M16 about 10 years ago. Knocks at least 30-40db off the report. After 10 rounds you can light your cigar off'n the can. Nice. Joe
