I will expect immediate legislation to also permanently ban the following items:

1) Cell phones, especially smart-phones. These are often the cause of distracted and reckless driving, resulting in thousands of injuries and fatalities per year. These devices are also used for bullying and cheating, as well as inappropriate activities such as "sexting", etc. They all get banned, and a special carry permit will be needed to possess or use a cell phone.

2) Social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, and Topix will all be immediately banned and all posts will be deleted permanently. These sites are often used for bullying, libel, and slander, and contribute to a high occurance of teen suicide.

3) Next, all automobiles will immediately be retrofitted with a speed limiter or governor that will prevent speeds in excess of the posted speed limit in your state of residence. These vehicles WILL NOT be allowed in states with lower posted speed limits than your home state.

3-A) If you want to drive a vehicle larger than a mid-sized family sedan, you will need to fill out the proper licensing application documentation. If you want a pickup truck, or other larger sized truck, due cause must be shown for your need of it, such as hauling firewood, or farming related operations, or other work-related functions. These special permits will ONLY be valid for the specified use of said truck or large vehicle, and said permit shall be possessed in the vehicle at all times, and will only be valid to the licensee.
3-B) All motorized vehicles with less than four (4) wheels and tires and with a power plant larger than 25 cubic inches will immediately be banned, and use of these vehicles will result in fines and imprisonment.

4) Next, all golf courses will be immediately CLOSED and banned from further use. A golf ball is a small object, and there is no valid reason for the course to be so large in size - you can't see one end of the course from the other, and the ball can fit in your pocket. This is a gross example of abuse and excess. All future golfing will take place in miniature golf courses not to exceed two (2) acres in size. A special permit may be issued to grant "grandfathered-in" status to any miniature golf courses larger than the prescribed size already in operation.

5) The fleet that makes up Air Force One and Air Force Two will be immediately grounded, and a more economical leer jet or Cessna-type plane will be used.

This is an incomplete list of new mandates we gun owners should demand. Feel free to add as you see fit. We should ask for all excess or perceived dangerous acts in our culture to be immediately legislated against.
If we gun owners as a whole group are expected to succumb to smothering legislation, then the same needs to happen across the board.

In the 1100's when Pope innocent III tried to ban cross bows it never really worked. Maybe it is finally time to ban them and get rid of the arrows that shoot through a knights armor.

Any soldier in any police action war who is getting drunk or speeding needs to be sent home and have his privilege of defending this country revoked.

Ban whichever model of car or truck most often used by drunk drivers. After the second drunk driving arrest he or she should only be allowed to drive a motor scooter.

Every time a teenager kills someone driving when using a cell phone we raise the driving age for all teens by one year.

Make anyone wishing to cross the bridge over the moat into their kid's school yard be subject to a strip search and cavity probe.

Subject anyone selling drugs, alcohol or tobacco (add soda and twinkies in NYC) to underage children to immediate expulsion from the US.

Take away the driving privileges of the parents of any child riding a bicycle or skateboard without a helmet for 1 year per offense.

Divide all schools into two sides. One side is specifically set up for teachers and staff to conceal carry handguns. The other side is a strict gun free zone. Both sides are to have signage stating their "firearm status".

For the safety of all Americans, ban all Hollywood types and Politicians from having armed bodyguards.

Leave golf courses alone! :D

I realize I'm preaching to the choir here with my commentary in my original post....

But, there are thousands of people that do not share the same ideas as us.
I separate people into three distinct groups on any issue, be it gun ownership, hunting, etc.

The three groups are the "Pros", the "Anti's", and the "Nons".
We are in maybe the biggest fight of our lives now. We can make the difference in how people see us.

The Pros are just that, the Pros are all of US. These are our allies and friends. We need to maintain our resolve to stand together.

The Anti's are the other side, and no amount of talking or reasoning is likely to sway them. Most Anti's will never become a Pro.
The way to handle an Anti is to kill them with kindness. Be cordial and polite, and give them nothing to use against us. Don't give them a reason to think "I knew it, I was right about them all along."

I think that the Nons are maybe the most important group we can talk to. These are the fence sitters. They are open to hear a sound, rational argument in favor of, or against, an idea.
The Nons can be shown a valid point or idea, and they will listen to you, and often you can make them realize that "they just never thought of it like that." I have done this, and it works.
We need to be careful with the Nons, though. Act wrong, or come across the wrong way, be rude or vulgar, and we risk turning a Non into an Anti. Then they become one more enemy fighting against us.
You don't need to lead them or try to sway them, just give them a few facts, and tell them "I do this because ______" and let them come to their own conclusion. Let them think for themselves, instead of the way the media instructs their followers to think. People respond well to that.

Joining the NRA or sending in an extra donation is a great step, but we can do more, and it costs little or nothing. We can reach out to the Nons, and show them that the way we are portrayed in the media is simply not true.
I think it is up to each of us to reach out to the Nons.

Do to the excessive bad publicity I have decided to remove the crocodiles from the moat at my castle. Two of the little cuties got out last week and almost ate the mailman. I knew I would be in really deep kimshee with the government if something like this happened so I really had little choice in the matter. Besides, the mailman is a pretty nice guy and often leaves the boys treats when he times his dash across the bridge to the mailbox just right. The county commissioners and state reps said I have nothing to worry about but they have been taking sincerety and crying lessons from my guys in the moat. :D

I have reluctantly decided to replace the boys with assorted amounts of foo gas to repel boarders. I have posted signs that warn "Foo On You!" so I think this should be sufficient. I am still working on CCC Concealed Crocodile Carry but the governor is a putz and most likely will not sign the bill.

In the long run police for "all" schools would be more expensive than other alternatives. Turnstile entrances that can be locked at the push of a button by a schoolboy door monitor behind one way glass perhaps?

Consider that all kids in higher grades of that school pretty much know who is naughty and who is nice. Kids usually know more about other kids temperament and sanity than the school counselor.

Obviously stronger classroom doors that can be securely locked when shots heard.

With modern technology a video screen of the entrances could be in each classroom. Have it where any kid could pull a cord (like on old trains) to shut down the entrance turnstile (from outside direction only?) (or alert the school counselor in California or Maine)?

Make it a college engineering contest for grades. If college engineering students can design computers and robot competitions they can also design school security. A rifle being carried by a known teenager with mental problems would not be too hard to spot. Lee Harvey Oswald carried a package of what he said was curtain rods needed at work a couple days before JFK's parade, in the last ever convertible limo used by any leader.

According to the FBI's homicide statistics for 2011, over 700 people in the U.S. were killed due to the use of hands, fists, or feet (Table 20), but only about 317 due to all rifles (not just the dreaded Assault Rifle). I truely believe that if we can get legislation passed severly limiting the use of hands, fists, or feet we can drastically reduce not only murders, but many accidents as well. I'll be writing my representatives today. Let's start a nationwide campaign! :)

Well I say ban Cigerettes as well.. Look how many people die from the them.( A hella lot more in the U.S. than gun deaths.)Not to include the amount of money used to threat cancer patients.
