Your 15-22 scope height -POI.

First post, own several AR's but joined to meet 15-22 owners.

High mount scopes on AR's are fine given the .223's flight path, this question is for 15-22 owners who already have scopes and have target shot at various distances (I have ballistic tables, looking for real world data).

How high above the barrel is your scope's centerline?
What size objective lens are you using?

I plan on mounting my 4x32 Nikon as low as possible for the rimfires flight, serious close range squirrel hunting but want to reach out for 100yrd crow shots. Hate having holdover up close, like to keep from having to too much holdover out far...cake and eat it too.

I only had a scope on my 15-22 long enough to determine it wasn't a 100yd rifle (at least not with Fed Value Pk). If you do any target shooting at 100yds I'd be interested to know how it performs and with what ammo.

IMO, I don't think it really makes that much difference. In fact, I think the scope H.O.B. is more of an issue on a flatter trajectory like the .223 than it is on the .22 LR. But either way, it's not that critical. You still have to learn your holdovers for what ever distance you shoot > or < your zero. Your better off choosing your scope height based on a good cheek weld. YMMV

I spent to much time doing calculators and theoretical scope centerline above bore last night, need to keep my Savage rimfire 17hm2 in the car!

As far as I can figure (mathamaticaly) surgical squirrel shots need to be 65 yards or less, that is 10yrds to 65 yards for no holdover given the higher than bolt action comb....but it was late and my eyes were tired...tired as my brain!

I will record POI in 10 yrd increments for the record when setup this weekend.
