Bookstores and advertisers are offering 2011 calendars now.

How many do you display in your home or dorm room?

Do you try to get the same themes every year?

I always look for one featuring the very lifelike trout and salmon paintings of Joseph R. Tomelleri. That goes in my bedroom. The kitchen gets a calendar of excellent photos of wild cats. Anything from the kod-kod to the tiger is featured. Another room usually gets an astronomy one But I think I'll put one in there next year with wildlife paintings on it.

The dining table has a desk-size one of vintage aircraft, and the computer table has the, Sports Illustrated desk calendar of swimsuit models.
The briefcase gets a small one with Texas scenes on it. (The Alamo, the state capitol, bluebonnet flowers, Palo Duro canyon, etc.)

I've already bought all but the trout one, which I haven't seen yet. Thankfully, Half Price Books stocks many fine calendars at reduced prices.
Often, they are the same ones that sell for full price in major book stores.
I'll happily pay $6.99 for a calendar meant to sell for $13.99!

The day after Christmas, Barnes & Noble and Border's drop prices dramatically, but the ones that I want are usually sold out by then. So I grab them when I see them.

You?

I have exactly four calendars.

One in my office to keep up with court trials, depositions and billing matters. It is an advertising calendar for an auto parts company with old cars on each page.

One in the dining room to keep up with the approximately 20 dr & hospital appointments per month for the lady that lives her with me solely to keep me broke. It is an advertising calendar with photos of flowers on each page.

One is in my cell phone as a function that I cannot find most of the time when I need it.

One is in my computer and I trust it more than I do the printed versions.

I like the ones I get from USA Shooting. Photo's of great historical guns along with brief histories of them. And the money goes to support the US Olympic Shooting Team.

I just try to get some for the correct year, though the ones for the current year get incredibly cheap this time of year....
:D

I refuse to pay for something that I can get free advertising someone's product. Currently I have one from some Defense contractor with lots of pictures of expensive warplanes. If you go to most any trade show related to any product, subject, or service this time of the year, you'll get a bag of free ones.

Honestly, the one I use most is the free one that is an app for Direct TV.

Very good choice. I have donated to to USA Shooting for many years. The money goes for a good cause and the calendar full page gun pictures are absolutely beautiful.

We have one and it’s stuck to the refrigerator with a magnet. My BIL’s wife makes them up with old family photos and hands them out at Christmas. She even list birthdays, they’re quite handy and we get a big kick out of them. This was the August photo featuring my bride and her siblings, you can see why I like the family! I count four guns, but I’m sure there were more hidden away.

I just counted and so far have 16 calendars sent by organizations seeking donations.

I do buy one each year from the Antique Motorcycle Club of America.

I'll have to look into the one from USA Shooting.

My wife buys a bunch from various charitable organizations and moves them around from room to room so the picture for the month blends in with the decorating theme of the room.

In addition, I have an old DOS program called Calendar Creator that keeps track of birthdays (calculates age), anniversaries, appointments and other events that I use to print out a monthly calendar that is stuck on the fridge with magnets and one for her to keep in her laptop writing desk to make notes on, which I transfer to the DOS program for the upcoming months.

The last two mentioned are the only ones we actually use.

I have one shoved here next to the computer and my desk one at work. I've been using my cell phone as an appointment calendar too.

I have the USA Shooting one too, since I send them a contribution every year. We have probably received a dozen 2011 calendars so far this year. My wife will donate all of them to a senior citizens retirement home, leaving us with none. For our own home we buy one large calendar with no photos but with a surface that's easy to write on and has plenty of room for entries.

I get two of the Texas State Rifle Association calendars. One I put in the gun room, and the other I send to my friend in New Zealand. In return, he sends me one from the New Zealand Antique Arms Association which goes in the study. I ask for a couple more for Christmas: one goes in the kitchen, and the other wherever I feel I need a calendar.

I'm a cheapskate and always go with the free calendar my union sends as a "Christmas present" every year. It's nice though in that it has lots of old black and white NYPD pictures. It goes up on the fridge. The fiance has a dry erase calender she uses to keep track of all her scholastic stuff.

My wife always brings calendars home that her are sent to her dead trust customers at the bank. The families aren't interested in anything other than the money/assets they left behind. We usually have lots to choose from. I try to pick out the wildlife ones, even so, there is never a calendar where I need one!
