Just got my M&P 40c. I have not yet acquired a holster for it. I plan to get a tuckable IWB holster, probably for side or 4 o'clock carry. What have any of you tried and liked, or tried and NOT liked, and why?

I like my UBG. All leather, American made and quite comfortable. I wear it at 3 or 5 o'clock. 3 o'clock is a bit more concealable, 5 is more comfortable.
Shortly after I first posted this, I bought a N82 Pro iwb holster out of the classifieds here. I have worn it constantly, carrying my M&P 9c, on weekends since and yes, I've even taken a nap while wearing it. It is more comfortable than I ever thought an iwb holster could ever be.

I like and use the original style Allien Gear holster. Very comfortable for all day use, and the price is right with excellent customer service. Try one, if you don't like it, can be returned for a refund. In the past, there was a six week wait, I think all that has changed for the better.

I use a hybrid or a leather holster with loops and snaps for strong side IWB carry and they both work fine.

Am still aware of the piece and holster when tucking in my shirt as there is a bulge and the clips show on the side of your belt. A C-clip or a Velcro type clip does reduce seeing the clip, but not entirely. I realize most folks would not recognize it if the shirt is bloused at the belt properly.

If my requirement was that I had to regularly tuck in my shirt and wanted to reduce getting made in say a not so friendly place as much as possible, then I'd go with a smart carry type of holster. To me it is more discrete than anything stuck in the waist band with a tucked in shirt wrapped around it.

My EDC has been the 40c in a milt sparks VMaxII for a very long time, now I have added a shield 9MM for summer carry in a Milt Sparks VMaxII. The 40c will be my winter carry,
buy once, cry once.

I carry my m&p 40c in a Don Hume no. 99-mpc its not tuckable but it works for me. Im thinking about ordering a couple alien gear hybrid holsters one for the compact and one for my m&p 40 full size. I have never used a hybrid before, but for the price i figure what the hay. Besides you never know unless you try.

Im glad to see positive feedback about the alien gear holsters.

I was looking at the wright leatherworks holsters also.

I'd suggest this.

You have already identified you want an IWB.

Next consideration should be:
- Leather
- Kydex
- Injection molded
- Hybrid (leather and/or Kydex or Inj Molded)

Another factor may be how it mounts and/or how many clips.

I have a Gould Leather OWB that I use for concealed carry with an over-shirt, Blade-tech with a belt and paddle attachment, AlienGear Hybrid with two metal clips, DeSantis Soft-tuk with 1 large tuckable clip and a Kydex with 1 wide clip (not tuckable) that I made myself.

My vote goes to a Kydex and any can be made tuckable by adding a simple 3" deep 'U' between the clip and holster.

Use some logic for your questions and selection and you will get better results.

You can Google your gun, IWB and then click images on the top of the resulting page. You can see thousands of options.

+1 for the N82 Pro holster. The most comfortable holster I have tried. I have owned and tried various other hybrid holsters. The husband suggested that I try the N82 Pro holster. It was love at first wearing. Plus it is sweatproof, has good retention, and nothing pokes me when I am wearing it.
You will get tons of opinions of which holster is the best. For everyone, their holster is the perfect one. For them it might be, for someone else, it might not. See if anyone has the type of holster that you are thinking about getting. See if they will let you try it.

I have settled on Alien Gear's Cloak Tuck 2 holster for IWB carry. I wear it around 3:30 to 4 o'clock and find it supremely comfortable. For the price and comfort it is, far and away, the best IWB I have found for my M&P 40c.

I carry mine in a Don Hume IWB leather holster.
Go to their web site and have a look.
