I am not a Zelle user, and know next to nothing about how it works, beyond that it's a money transfer service and is a favorite of swindlers and scammers. Apparently Zelle has added a safeguard to prevent money transfers between users directly, and everything now must go through a participating bank or credit union. This is something I stumbled across today that may, or may not, be of general interest. At any rate, I have no current inclination to use Zelle, even with safeguards.

Hello,
As a valued Zelle user, we want to remind you about an upcoming change to the Zelle app. Effective April 1, 2025, you will no longer be able to send or receive money through the app. In order to continue sending or receiving money with Zelle, you should enroll through one of the more than 2,200 banks and credit unions that offers Zelle through their mobile app or online banking.
This is the same change to the standalone Zelle app that we have communicated with you about in previous messages and was initially announced
Enrolling in Zelle is easy!
Review our ever-growing list of banks and credit unions to see if yours offers Zelle. Follow the enrollment steps and you’ll be able to easily send and receive money with friends, family and those you trust using Zelle through your bank or credit union’s mobile app.

I know scammers sometimes do a Zelle transfer from a bank, but Zelle is ceasing person to person transfers on April 1.
