Was at the LGS today to pick up a 1949 low serial number SIG P 210 pistol (in Switzerland)

As I entered I immediately spotted this big rifle leaning against a rack. I asked if I could handle it and photograph it. It’s a low serial matching numbers in great condition with a nice light wood.

So next thing, I was texting a friend who was looking for one, and although he did not really plan to buy one so soon, he just couldn’t resist and reserved it, he’ll pick it up next week.

So I’ll likely get a chance to shoot it too.

Love those Swiss rifles! My scoped K31 makes me look good on the range.

I've had the pleasure of shooting one of those after a vintage sniper match. Almost as accurate as a Swedish m/41B.


My teammate/spotter was shooting it, he was pretty sore after carrying me most of the match.

Where's the SIG P210 pics???

I was wondering if that was your house that was on the news yesterday...the one where they found the WWII munitions dump and politely asked everyone to leave for ten years...

I saw on the Video that the optic is made by Kern in Aarau. My friend's husband retired from there in 1983 and was very proud of the place and the precision instruments they made. I just read that they were acquired in 1988, currently owned by Leica, and the Aarau plant closed in 1991. Hate to see them gone from the community.

Haha, no, that’s an old army ammunition depot in derelict condition, 100 miles away. It already blew up in 1947, causing nine deaths. Falling rocks are threatening to ignite old ordnance again. Quite surprising that in a country like Switzerland, this has been handled quite poorly for a long time.

Indeed the Kern optics that were supplied to the Swiss army for a long time had a high reputation for unsurpassed quality

Good Lord, that looks like my basement in my old farm house! The "Flippers" who bought it, made it a condition of sale to remove ALL ammunition from the house! Not really a problem!

We have a Munitions plant from the 1930's to late 50's about 6 miles from here. My F-I-L worked there in the early 50's (at $7.50 an hour!) and quit one night after rushing a co-worker to the hospital. The co-worker blew a hand off making 3" Fuseies, my F-I-L was the maker of 5" Fuseies. He joined the Army the next year. That factory had "Trash Piles" all over the 60 acre property! In the late 70's the clean up began. For the next 2 decades UXB crews would uncover mountains of old ordinance and Blow it up in place. The Air Force sent the last crew in about 2005 when construction crews (for a retirement home) found another pile! There is also a "Equestrian Facility" (Horse pasture) for a local college on half of the original site. I cringe every time the drive in a new fence post!
