I need a magazine for a Model 639. I would like it to match the one with the gun, which has a metal baseplate. I think there may have been two versions - one metal, one plastic baseplate. Not sure about that but I need the metal one. Must be in good working order. Please send a PM if you have one for sale. Thanks.

The original magazines were stainless with a flat stainless baseplate. These are very difficult to find nowadays. One option is to use magazines for the 39, 39-2, 439. Same magazine as the 639 but made out of blued carbon steel. These are still fairly easy to find and usually not that expensive. I have seen the stainless 639 magazines go for as much as $65 each when you can find them.

The magazines with the plastic baseplate are made for 3rd generation Smith's but will work in a 639. Just my opinion, but I don't care for the way the plastic baseplates extend beyond the frame.
