Withdrawn -- Smooth Rosewood stocks for 5-screw (Baby) Chiefs Special
Walter Lookabaugh, S&W's west coast rep, presented this bright
blue Chiefs Special serial number 38174 to "Dragnet" television
star Ben Alexander.
S&W shipped this and two other engraved Chiefs to Lookabaugh
on June 4, 1954. A two-tone went to Jack Webb, and another
blue one went to LAPD Captain J.E. Hamilton, a consultant to
the show.
The three Chiefs wore smooth rosewood presentation stocks.
The second photo shows Jack Webb's Chiefs Special.
I've been told LAPD Officer Josiah "Joe" Blackford made the
stocks on Ben's gun now, and they're very neat, but I'd like to
have a pair like would have been original.
