Cabela's?
Quick question. Does anyone know offhand whether Cabela's in Hamburg, PA is OK w/CC? Planning a visit next weekend. Of course I could call, but figured you all would know. RR

There last weekend. Concealed means concealed. Keep it covered and you are good to go.

If you call you'll get the company line, whatever that is. When I go I make sure my ccw is well hidden, the way it is supposed to be, and not worry about it.
You're most vunerable to attack in the parking lot, not in the store, so my gun is always with me.

while it may vary from store to store, Cabellas at the top couldn't be more pro CCW without insisting you carry

Not being able to carry a gun in a gun store makes about much sense as not being able to wear sweat pants at Wal*Mart!
It's part of the culture...

Cabela’s stores in Washington have a big sign inside the entrance that says, in essence, if you carry in a loaded handgun leave it in its holster and do not touch it. However, if you plan to handle your gun here or show it to us let our “outfitter” at the door inspect to see it is unloaded. Their man then carries the inspected gun up to the gun library. I can live with that.

Why are you going? You cant get near the gun counter, it is take a number and wait. Maybe some ammo if you are lucky. There are usually people waiting for the doors to open. The place is crazy!

Well, my husband and I did go to Cabela's yesterday and "snubby" was nestled behind my right hip under my vest. I figured that they are pro-gun/NRA so as long as I'm not displaying it I was OK. The placed was packed including women and children and I wouldn't want to freak them out even if it was OK to OC. In fact, the NRA was set up inside at the front doors and the table was packed with people who were joining. We thanked them for withdrawing from the huge Easter Outdoors Show in Harrisburg, PA (where the organizers banned "certain types of rifles" and ended up cancelling the whole show). Cabela's also boycotted the show as well as S&W,Colt,Ruger and most of the vendors who were signed up, even the boating vendors. Anyway, the gun counter was packed/take a number. Fortunately, a woman who was waiting decided not to stay and gave me her number so we were able to check out a couple of firearms we were interested in. I have to say that while we all are entitled to 2nd Amendment rights, some of the characters at the counter were scary even to my husband (retired LEO) and myself. Long story short, we did not buy the used Ruger LCR .22 we want for a practice gun, but had a great time. I'd much rather go shopping at Cabela's or a hardware store than the mall.

The cabelas in east Hartford ct has a weapon check in booth right inside the doors! You are supposed to leave it with them while inside the store!! No thanks, I'll just make sure it's well concealed!!

The one in West Virginia requires any guns that are to be traded be inspected. As far as concealed carry, you are good to go.

Besides there is always the restaurant upstairs there... I took my wife out there for the first time a few weeks ago (I didn't realize she hadn't been!) She took the kids to go look at the deer while I hit up the mob in the gun department. She came back wondering why I'm not a hunter. LOL (Venison IS really good... I don't know why either really.)
