SHOWER OF DOLLARS
Today I went down to radio station WFMD in Frederick, MD, which is not far over the Maryland line. At this time of year, the station suspends its local programming for a charitable program with the Salvation Army called "Christmas Cash for Kids." Contributions are solicted by the station and can be called in as pledges or brought to the station as checks or cash.
I have a long history with this station, and I have been a contributor to this charity for a number of years. Today I did something a little different. I always made a delivered contribution in the past with dropping a number of Golden Dollars on a table while on the air, which the station personnel always thought was a neat touch. But this year I went through my stash, and pulled out 25 Eisenhower Bicentennial Dollar coins, the big cartwheels, and took them to the station for my contribution. The station made a video record of an interview with me and put it an its Facebook page and web site.
So if you go to WFMD.com and click on its web site's Facebook connection, scroll down until you see a guy in a flannel shirt who is built like a beer keg and wearing a Bat-Signal mask, and a blonde lady in a black mask. Click on the picture to start the interview and you can see me being interviewed and dropping a shower of Eisenhower dollars as my contribution to "Christmas Cash for Kids." It's always a lot of fun to do that.

You must a very special relationship with your bank and the tellers to get a quantity of "Fat Dollars" out of them! I usually clean them out of gold dollars, and they try to push the SBA over sized quarters off on me, but there are never any Eisenhower Dollars to be seen!
There is always a Gold Dollar in the tip at a restaurant. If a person is begging change, they get a Gold Dollar.
We were waiting for a company party at the Ohio Theater a few Christmas' ago. A woman was hitting the people up for change for a bus ticket "Home" (about 60 miles away). She needed $24 total, and had $15 or so in change. I relieved her of all her change, gave 24 in folding dollars. She showed a great deal of gratitude, and I pulled a Gold Dollar out for her to have a coffee at White Castle while waiting for the 10:15 ride Home!
While I was playing with her change and my wallet. My wife stood out of the limelight with her hand in her shoulder bad. It's nice to have someone that cares!
Give a buck where you can, give the finger to the virus, and give a heart felt Merry Christmas' to everyone!

I'm sure the tellers at bank branches I go to a lot are glad to see me coming. A bunch of times when I ask for Golden Dollars they'll ask me if I want the Eisenhower Dollars ("Ikes") and/or $2 bills. The tellers like to pass those along because they kind of clog up their money drawers. I suspect a lot of the Ikes are coming to banks now from estates finding a bunch of them left behind and brought them to the bank. The Ikes were last minted in 1978
My tips are usually all Golden Dollars. A lot of times my meal bill is all in Golden Dollars too.
That was a nice thing you did to help out the lady who was trying to get a bus ticket home.
Have a good holiday season and enjoy yourself spreading the Golden Dollars around.

Thank you everybody for your kind words. It is a wonderful cause and the radio station and I really enjoy the shower of dollars as a contribution. And it only takes a few minutes for the dollar bills to come out from people at the station wanting to trade for the dollar coins.

Looking at the title of the thread I envisioned nudie bars and pole dancing.
Glad to see that I was wrong.
Congrats to your charitable work.
And now we know what your handle stands for.

This is the last day for "Christmas Cash for Kids" on WFMD in Frederick, MD. They are soliciting for money to benefit 1800 kids in Frederick County, Maryland, that the Salvation Army has determined are in need. I've been listening to the station and I just heard that the station has received contributions and pledges of $100,000.00.

Way to go!
Salvation Army is a great organization! Really miss seeing as many Red Kettles this Christmas season.
This year I made an online donation because I heard that they were in need due to the lack of Kettles.
When I used to ring the bell I was told that a majority of their operating income for the year came from the Kettles.

Nice video, and very generous of you, you must be proud to help out.
I also like the green carry bag for the coins, I don't have a green bag but I buy XO so my bags are grey. Carry on sir.

I got the green bag off a bottle of Crown Royal Apple. The bag are actually quite durable and that's what I carry my usual pocket stash of Golden Dollars in.
