Default Model 41 ?????

I recently bought a model 41 as part of a revolver deal. I have never owned a model 41 before and am basically ignorant about them. Anyway the serial # is A192XXX which puts it at about 1973-74 DOB. This pistol has a cocking indicator, one magazine & appears to have seen very little use. The previous owner said that it also has an extendable front sight. Can someone explain how this works or can tell from the photos if it does in fact have this feature? This also came with a box,but nothing else except for the scope you see mounted. It is an old Bushnell Phanton Magnum 1.3X. Finish is probably about 98%.The only apparent defect is someone relieved a bit of wood from the left grip around the slide release. Also, is this considered to be a heavy barrel? Barrel appears to be 5 1/2".Any idea of current value? Thanks!

It is a heavy barrel. The long barrel is 7.5". I am not sure about the front sight. There must be a set screw somewhere??

Looks like my EFS 5.5" gun. The EFS sight can be seen from the top. Look at the two set screws in the sight channel. There is also some witness marks you line up.

Basically you loosen the two screws on the sight, slide it out about 3" and then tighten up the screws again. I am not sure how they mounted the scope and if they went through the sight.

I was faced with the same problem, so I just bought another 41 instead of tapping my EFS sight.

The bottom one is the EFS model. See the two screws? Ahead of the front screw you can see the witness mark in the sight line. It is about 3/4" of inch forward. You bring that forward to the witness mark on the gun.

It is a 5.5" EFS (heavy or bull) bbl. There are two small hex screws locking it in the bbl slot. When loosened, the slide is generally fairly tight and needs a little tapping to extend. Note an index mark on the site for positioning the site. Assuming you have the box, no papers, etc. and can find a replacement site rib (assume that the scope is attached to the site rib and not the bbl body) @98% pistol value $750 - $875. Scope ?? $40 - $65??

I have a 41 with the extendible front sight. You have a real gem.I can not give you an estimate because they vary so much in price. Mine has a nasty habit of shooting in the same hole.
