I bought my first 27-2 today
all I can say is wow, two guns in one week! First the Nickel M10 and now this 27-2 nickel. I went to a gun store some what local, I didnt even know it was there until this Monday. I had a few hours to kill this afternoon. So a buddy and I went over to take a look. I saw this in the case and took it home. It doesnt have the box or tools, but the shop owner said this gun if from a large estate that is coming in slowly and in bits. He did say if the box shows up he will give it to me. Its been shot and isnt flawless, but its got no major flaws, locks tight shines bright. I got it for $500 otd around here thats very good. The last N frame I saw around here was a M28 and that sold for $650, no box... What do you guys think.
The SN is kinda late at N7630XXX ?
Did all 27s come with the 3 Ts?
I also shot it today, shoots great, hasnt been cleaned in the photo, just wiped down.

A 4" Nickel 27-2 for $500...
That barrel length was only offered for a few years. Very nice score!
3T's and a presentation case were standard after 1975 on the 27-2.

Early one with a pinned barrel. At some point the 4" 27-2s started appearing with the unpinned -3 barrels as S&W ran out of the old ones.

Great deal on a 4" 27, they usually go for a pretty penny! You should let the owner of the gun shop know to notify you when more come in, ya never know whats next. Nice gun!

$500 is a great buy for a M27-2. All you have to do is
look on GB and see how high they are. Great way to start
out the New Year. Don

That is a very nice looking m27, I'd say you were on a roll! And you say more pieces from this estate are trickling in huh...I'd have myself on his speed dial and a good credit limit in his layaway department

Thanks guys!!
Being a guy with a few M-28s I didnt think any thing of the 4", I was thinking 5 1/2" was the better size
I found my "book" and it seems the 4" was only made from 1979 to 82 ( I think) That just sweetened the deal. Any idea how many were made? Ive always wanted a M27 and am very very happy to have this.
I cleaned it up some and some of the things I thought were marks was really just some gunk build up that wiped off with some elbow grease. I do see a few marks under the nickel and some places that S&W didnt polish the frame so well, like along the side of the top strap.
One thing I find odd is that the base rear sight seems to long on the frame. It seems to stick out toward the front Is that normal? Thanks!

3T's
No, not all 27's came with the 3 T's; I have a 5" S-series with standard hammer and trigger, and a pre-27 6.5" with target hammer but standard trigger.
