45acp moon clips for M25-2
Where can I purchase .034 thick 45acp full moon clips for my 25-2? The .040 and .045 won't let the cylinder rotate.

Do a Google search! You should get several choices and you can do the research yourself.

If you're shooting re-loads you may need to seat the bullet and bit more. I had a similar problem with 45 Auto Rim and that's how I solved it.

I have several 1917s, a 1955 and a couple 625-2s and 2 325s. I have never had a clip that was to thick. and I must have over 100 from various sources plus 2 round clips and 1/2 moon clips. Most of mine measure between .035 and .039. I have never came across one that was .045. Most of the full moons are close to .039 and the 1/2 moons at .035. The few 2 rounders I have are the thickest at .040
Are your clips setting flush on the back of cylinder. What brand of brass.
A thought. Do any of your clips have burrs on the edges. Maybe lay some 220 grit emery cloth on something real flat like a piece of heavy glass and give them a few rubs on both sides.

Since I was already in the safe in order to answer this fellows question ( Auto Rim speed loader for 625-8?), I figured I'd dig out my 25-2 to answer yours.
I shoot a 625-8PC in IDPA and I use Ranch Products moon clips exclusively. Using a digital vernier I checked the thickness of the RP clips - they came in at .0415" and .042" I took one of the clips from my range bag, loaded with 230 gr RN Ibejihead bullets in Federal cases with me to the safe. The 25-2 was already loaded with some Federal 200 gr EFMJ rounds in RP clips. Cylinder cycled with no problem. Likewise when I inserted the clip with the 230 gr rounds.
I'd say that you have a problem other than the clips you are using. The .45 ACP revolvers are some of the most forgiving guns to use moon clips.
Good luck in your sleuthing.
Adios,
Pizza Bob

I purchased some Wilson steel clips for my 22-4 as that is what came with the gun. None of them worked until I removed the burrs from one side. Took a LONG time and a lot of aggravation. I found the RIMZ plastic moon clips and haven’t touched a steel one since.

Consider Auto Rim brass; you don't have to deal with the headaches associated with clips and you don't need any specialized tools for loading and unloading.

I have at least a dozen S&W ACP revolvers. Whenever I need moon clips, I go to the original manufacturer of the modern moon clip, Ranch Products, Malinta, Ohio. Never bothered to measure them, they work in all of my revolvers that span a century of manufacturing.

I don't shoot competition with it, but I always shoot with RIMZ in my 625JM. Just work great for me. Bob

I have five revolvers chambered for 45acp. Revolver supply has been my source for moonclips. They work with all the guns and every make of commercial ammo I use. The guns are 1917's from Colt and S&W, a pre-26, pre-25 and a 625-2 that somehow snuck in there. BTW, I highly recommend a BMT tool for loading and unloading the clips. A little pricey, but after you use it, you'll forget about the price. I've been using the same clips for years without any damage.

I have used Ranch Products from Midway and Dillon for both my 25-2 and my Bazillion .45 ACP revolvers, only a rare problem and it was always related to Brass.

My moon clips are Wilson Combats. Since they are stamped sheet metal, the stamping process leaves a raised ridge around the edges. This makes loading the clips difficult and some of the loaded clips do not seat fully in my 625-3. I used a dremel with a sandpaper disk to remove the ridge. Makes a world of difference, loads easier and loaded clips now work properly.

My current batch of moon clips has been accumulated during the last 25 or so years. They were bought from Ranch Products, TK Custom, Wilson, Dillon and unknown merchants. Most are blued; far fewer appear to have a nickel finish.
Some were acquired in used condition and a few were bent. Either I or a timer operator stepped on and bent a few more. Visibly-bent clips aside, as far as I can recall and without modification, the rest have functioned flawlessly in three Brazilians, a S&W US Army Model of 1917, a Colt US Army Model of 1917, five 625s, a TR Model 22, a 25-2, a Pre-Model 26, and a 325.
I have nine moon clips that were given to me by a shooting pal. They are much thicker. I haven't micrometered'em nor have I managed to get'em to work in any .45 in which I've tried'em.
I own several mooners and de-mooners.
I have more than a thousand Auto Rim cases (at least half of them un-fired and yet-to-be-loaded) and several packs of RIMZ (both for early models and for 625s). With rare exception, I consider'em all in the way when compared to ACP cases and steel moon clips.
Some other folks' mileage obviously varies.

I had some thick ones . They
Would not work in my gun
, I lapped them thinking they
Had a burr or high spot .i
Lapped both sides until
All blue was gone still
We're tight but would
Work, I gave them away
Not worth the effort.
