As some of you know, for the past 10 years I have been producing various models of sight pushers, as well as lock delete plugs for s&w revolvers.
I had an inquiry a couple of weeks ago from a gentleman in Virginia who wanted to know if any of my sight pushers could be adapted to remove the extractor pin on a M 39. I told him that I didn’t have a 39 any more, but I did have a couple of third generation slides I could work with. One was a 5904 that had the extractor intact. I did some measuring and determined that I needed a wire size 46 push pin. After receiving some pins and a drill bit from MC, I proceeded to drill a jackscrew and install a pin.
Next, I gathered up the slide and a Mk lll prototype pusher and figured out how to get it lined up with the pin. Once I figured out how I wanted to do the set up, it took less than 10 seconds to press the pin out far enough to remove the extractor.

I took the extractor out and looked at it and then put it back in place. I used a C clamp to hold pressure on the spring while I tapped the pin back in with a small hammer. Once the pin got close to the rail I put the slide back in the pusher and used a 1/8” push pin to completely seat the pin.

I’m trying to gauge how much interest there might be in such a product. If you already have one of my pushers, this would be a relatively low cost accessory for it. Gonna try to load some pictures.

Very nice, I might be interested in something like that to remove the cross pin that holds the pin in for the bolt in a model 41

This particular pusher is really just a miniature screw press. Given a slide that will physically fit within the confines of the pusher frame, the only other issue is determining the proper push pin diameter.

Thought I’d run this one to the top one more time and see if there is any interest.

Man, that is a great idea. Just finished reinstalling one yesterday. Real easy to break a properly fitting punch for sure. Ended up cutting some nails that would fit, would tap, straighten nail then tap again, when driving out, going in is so much easier.

However, unless I had the need for high volume, wouldn't be much worth it for me to get one.

If you already have a JMT Mk lll or Mk lV sight pusher, the additional jackscrew is pretty inexpensive.

I have a universal pusher I bought on Ebay, can't remember who made it. Looks different than yours. Maybe could modify mine, not sure.

If it’s like most of the eBay offerings, I would highly doubt that it could be modified to accept the JMT jackscrew system.

Ed, I used mine today to push out an extractor pin. Worked like a charm. No more bent punches. My Son-in-law thinks it pretty neat also.
