How many people are running them? I just want a quick view sight and this one has come up in a few conversations with friends. Looking to sight for 50-100yd most stuff, and don't want to drop more coin on the glass than the metal If anyone is using this on their MP15-22 your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Multi-ret red dots can sometimes have issues keeping zero as you switch from reticle to reticle.

Something to keep in mind I guess.

I hate to admit that I have the knock off version, but I've got 1000 plus rounds through mine and love it at 50 to 75 yards. I keep the dot up and don't use the other reticles and it's held zero perfectly. Best $40 I've spent!

two things: As said above, multi reticles are kind of teh junkness, fine enough for airsoft but even on a .22 they have trouble holding zero under normal use and virtually will not at all hold when switching reticles. Of course there are exceptions to every rule, and I got my cheapo holosight 4 reticle ncstar john to hold zero eventually but it lastefd few months before literally breaking in half.

The second thing is, not a lot of people want to hear this but it's true, and I mean no insult or hurt but simply speaking the truth: TruGlo is basically teh junkness too... (Not that NcStar was/is so good, I made rookie mistakes and I learned and paid for it both literally and figuratively ....) .... With optics, SERIOUSLY With optics, buy Once cry Once....

That doesn't mean you HAVE to spend $400 on an Aimpoint or EOTech, but certainly you could... but seriously, spend $100 ish on a Primary Arms before you waste $40 on a junk. I know money is tight, for me too, but you wouldn't want to spend $40 now and then more later simply correcting your mistakes right? Learn from those of us wbo made those mistakes, save your cash for ssomething "decent"

I prefer paying for good stuff, honestly, my toys list and hobbies are ridiculous expensive, and I have expensive taste, but for a 22 in 50-100 yards... I can't see myself dropping $500 on optics, that could get me a nice new Mossberg 590 and a bunch of shells. But in the 75-150 range I have heard of others having decent luck with TruGlo, Vortex StrikeFire, and even the lil 3x9 from Cabellas. I have no problem with iron sights even, but a quick look sight is what I'm looking for, and want to keep it around 150-200 max. If this was a SocomII or something I have no qualms with EOTech or Aimpoint, but for a 22, I figure there has to be a better bang for the buck. Whole reason I bought the MP15-22 was so I would get 10 rounds for the price of one round through my XD45ACP Tac.

And I usually find one setting I like and run with it. would not be switching reticles all the time. I would even rock a plain ol crosshair riflescope. Just want a decent bang for the buck, something I can set to one setting and just drop a thousand rounds or so

I am following your thread here Shaggs as I was getting ready to order the exact same one from Brownells.
I have heard good things about the TruGlo and if Brownells stocks it, that tells you something.
Hopefully someone who actually has one will pipe up.

I have the NCstar branded version of this sight, which is the same product as far as I can tell under a different name for 1/3rd the price. I paid $29.85 on Amazon for it. This optic is sold under many different labels for a wide range of prices, keep in mind they are all cheap chinese junk. That said, I still have my cheap chinese junk red dot on my 15-22 and love it. It had some problems at first, NCstar has good customer service and sent me instructions on how to fix my issues. I took the little sight apart to every last spring and screw, tightened it all up, and it is solid now. I just changed the battery today actually, after about 5,000 rounds it stills holds zero. It is the perfect height for co-witnessing iron sights.

Does Tru-Glo provide better QC on these before they ship them for their $50 markup? Possibly, but I like the price I paid and I did the QC myself, all it took was a small screwdriver.

I have some Primary Arms optics. They have performed quite well on .22s over the past couple years and tens of thousands of rounds. However, I'd pass on their reflex sight based on the one I have seen. It's a 5MOA green dot that has no manual brightness settings. The brightness is controlled by a light sensor but indoors or outside it's just WAY too bright to comfortably use. From what I have read on forums, the brightness control ( lack of) seems to be a common complaint. The guy who bought it returned it to Primary Arms no questions asked and ordered another MicroDot.

I also saw a good price on a Bushnell one and a Simmons, better names than NC, PA, or TrueGlow.

Just forewarned is forearmed. Most of those less expensive sights are absolute junk, I don;t want to be rude but its fact. I have personal experience buying 3 different cheap optics, $40, $75, and $100. All three did not last 1 year and required replacement.

Now I know better, and will only buy quality, even for .22LRs. The Nikon ProStaff's I have on two long rifle 22' are the 'cheapest' I will go.


And Phil I know you're a moderator on here and other websites involving rimfire, I don't want to cross you, and respect your opinion. That said, Primary Arms is basically the most popular and prevalent brand of economic sights in the world. I have read so many good things and so little bad, I can actually count and remember the few people who said something bad about them ( you became # 4 lol.)

Further one thing about them, and I know this from my personal conversations and dealings and even other ppls posts, if you're not happy they'll absolutely just give you another optic and take yours back, so you get a new one and they'll deal with the problem you said you had. And if you still aren't happy they'll either try to give you a different optic (Say a M4/M3 instead of a Microdot etc.) or eventually, if you can't be made happy, give you your money back.


As I've said, I'm not using anything less than Aimpoint or EOTech, I've been there done that and got the records/receipts/range reports to know it's worth it and not worth the wasted dough etc. BUT for those who DON"t consider it worth it...trust me and use Primary Arms before TruGlu/NcStar/etc. major difference.,

Phil, do you prefer the Dot or 4x compact? I need to sell one of my cars or bikes for my next couple firearm purchases. I would like to keep my MP15-22 relatively inexpensive so I can do a legit M1A SocomII or really nice AR. And by inexpensive I mean "bang for the buck" I don't wanna put garbage on but I don't wanna eclipse the price of the plinker. I work in very high end vehicles, and would not put cheap parts on any vehicle. My general rule is anything that is removed or replaced needs to be as good or better than OEM... and I use this for just about everything in life. On a side note, Anyone need a Ducati 999

And I have been searching the interwebs for Red Dot info and seems like PA Micro and Bushnell TRS-25 have best ratings. Cabelas has the Bushnell for $69 with wty... kinda hard to beat. My question, is any special mount or riser required for co-witness?

I have the TRS-25 and it cowitnesses perfectly with the UTG .83" riser. With Cabelas' current sale, you can get both for way less than $100.

I prefer a 1x red dot for the type shooting I do with the 15-22. I prefer the 4x for the Sig522.

I use the 15-22 for chasing around soda cans, shotgun shells and other junk at the plinking range. When you and a couple shooting buddies are chasing the same can down range you can't spend all day looking for it with a reduced FOV magnified scope. The MicroDot is very light and is a perfect match for a light weight rifle like the 15-22 for the type offhand shooting I do with it. // The Sig522 is heavier relatively accurate rifle and the 4x is a much heavier optic. The Sig spends a fair amount of time slung over a range bag picking off small particles of debris at longer distances or precision paper shooting once in great a while. There's a thread Scope or Reddot? that includes a post from Scrapmaster that is along the same lines. (I also have a Savage bolt action for precision shooting at paper)

So it really depends on what type shooting you'll be doing with your 15-22 as to what optic will work best for you. Matching the optic for the type shooting is the most important part-- I would not trade my MicroDot for a $2,000 Nightforce NXS 22x if I had to mount it on my 15-22.

A friend of mine has the Bushnell TRS-25 on a Ruger pistol like the pic above. It works great. Other than being slightly larger than the PA MicroDot the two are the same in use. There are a couple guys here on the Forum who use the TRS-25 and have found the right riser for it. I really like Bushnell products and have scopes from their cheapest 3-9x to their most expensive 6500 Tactical Elite 2.5x-16. Heck, now I've got myself talked into buying a TRS-25... I've got a Smith 22S that is getting tired of it's 2x pistol scope and needs a change.

Thanks for making me feel better about the TRS- it seems like a good bang for the buck, and reliable optic. Especially if it co-witnesses I will be ordering it tonight.
