It all matters what you want to do with yours- I am not a scoped rifle type on my ARs, neither my 5.56 Bushmaster nor my 15-22. BUT plenty of people certainly are!
One of the best things about the 15-22 is it is ABSOLUTELY VERSATILE - the same exact rifle can be set up as a complete dedicated CQB rifle (like me) , a Patrolman's Carbine like.... a scoped rifle, a SPR, or a hunting rifle with a tactical look.
For ME, I have two other .22LRs that fill two other roles... my Remington 597 is a sporter rifle but it has a high power quality scope, internal upgrades, a bipod, etc. so it's my semi auto sniper rifle. My Savage Mark II GXP .22LR is a classic looking, wood stock, bolt action, high power high quality scoped rifle... For absolute reliability (bolt action), accuracy (bolt action Savage!) and classical looks and feel, i got the Mark II GXP... For autoloading accuracy, speed, and tactical urban rimfire operations, I got the 597.
So the 15-22 became my CQB weapon in rimfire. My stock is pinned all the way closed, the AFG and XTM panels all invite CQB holds, the MBUS are perfect for 25 yds ,and it wears an Aimpoint Micro R-1 . PERFECT. When you sling it in front of your chest, you could really make the caase its the perfect little carbine. it's not QUITE as portable or concealable as the MP5-PK or even the former 15-22P but, it's got a full size barrel and stock too so, it's more accurate.
Again, there is no right or wrong answer here. Many people have done many different things and they all love theirs. The only thing you have to realize is, no matter what you do, mine will be cooler than anyone elses because, my 15-22 is The Benevolent Dictator For Life.
