I keep notes on this model, and many specimens of the 696 no dash have lower serial numbers with CBH, CBN, CBP and CBR prefixes. The lowest dated serial numbers known to me are CBH9385 and CBH9484, both of which shipped in mid October 1996.
If it is of interest, the highest serial number I know on a no-dash 696 is CBW9753. The lowest serial number I know on a 696-1 is CCH8772 and the highest on that model is CFA58XX. The only serial number I know from the rarely seen 696-2 production is CFK3468.
