Modifying a Model 29-3

I bought a Model 29-3 6" bbl for a truck gun as this gun is mechanically sound but it appears to have spent the last 15 years under the seat of a pickup truck. Bluing is garbage but sights, internals and bbl are in very good shape. It also has Pachmayr rubbers that have to go.

Got it at a fair price, thinking about sending it to Smith to have a 5" Classic bbl installed, and a reblue and a nice set of wood grips.

Question is: Are the threads and their pitch on the 29-3 and the Classic bbl compatible? Will the PC tackle a job like this, or should I outsource it?

Should still be 32 tpi.

32tpi ?? might want to check that. I like the 36tpi pitch better..

Older N frames and the newer barrels install just fine. I've done several of them.
