Finally found an S&W .38 Ultimate carry in black finish. Haven’t got to shoot it yet, but the workmanship seems to be great. DA is a little stiff, but should smooth out with use. Will update when I get to shoot it some.

I have had my 642UC for a couple months now and have shot approximately 500 rounds through it along with a bunch of dry firing. Yes, the trigger smooths out nicely and I would say is a bit better than a regular 642, but that’s speculative.

The VZ stocks are a tad big for me, but I can see where they are liked for those with larger hands. I will change mine to more standard boot grip.

Woooo Hooo I can pick up the sights with my old eyes quickly! However, my groups have opened up bigger than I want. I can’t see the gaps on either side of the dot very well, o well. Mine hits point of aim when I put “the ball in the bucket” with 158 SWC hand loads.

Another 500 rounds and I will put it in my carry rotation.

If you don't have any obvious signs of oiling at the top of the trigger or on the edges of the side plate, you may want to pull the side plate and add oil. The 442UC that I got last fall was oiled, but the early 642UC that I got was pretty dry.
