Spoke with Magguts by email and they are in the process of developing an extension spring for the new Shield 45...turns 6 round to 7 and 7 round to 8.

Used them extensively in my Shield 9 and they perform flawlessly (at least for me)...

Should be available by the end of year if not sooner......

Waiting.....waiting.....waiting......waiting.....waiting....

The only aftermarket spring I trust is Wolff. Never had much luck with proprietary aftermarket springs and adapters to increase magazine capacity. So I don't trust them.

And increasing the overall dimensions on a compact carry gun doesn't make sense to me. It's easier to carry a spare magazine.

Hope it works out for you.

I do understand your concerns...I carried them in the Shield 9 for over a year and never had a failure...does not mean I can't have a failure...but my experience sorta gives me trust of them...thanks for the shout.....

I have been using the maggots in my Shield 9mm for over a year now with ZERO issues both the 7 and 8 round mags. I much prefer the EZ spring system over the dual spring with cup. I suspect the system for the Shield 45 would be of the same quality and same reliability. 7+1 with a flush fit mag in the shield 45 would be real nice as an EDC gun.
My Shield 45 is laser accurate and totally reliable, I switch between my Gen 4 G23 and My shield 45. I love the capacity power and size of my G23 and it carries as well as my Shield.
Having the extra rounds the the maggots provide, coupled with the reliability and accuracy of my shield 45 make it one of my favorite carry guns.
Having been a capacity driven CC person the switch from a double stack 40 to single stack 45 was a bit of a challenge for me. Having said that, my thought process for a "Off duty" shooting encounter be it self defense or and active shooter situation has changed. I think either my G23 or Shield 45 would suffice

This is exactly what I've been waiting for! This will make this my perfect carry gun.

Serious question. As I'm new here, I'm not trying to stir the pot.

If Mag Guts can turn the same 6 round magazine into 7 rounds and 7 into 8, why doesn't S&W make them those capacities to begin with?
