Well I don't care for the factory sights and I'm a cheap *** so I decided to upgrade my factory sights to mimic some of the higher end sights. I'll be trying them out in the next day or two and I'll let you know how well they work

I just used fluorescent yellow and green paint. On the rear sight I scraped the white dots off and used a small drill bit to put a void in the sight to hold the paint. I'll be putting clear nail polish on them if they work well.

As long as I keep the top of the front and rear lined up I should be fine

And it's not like I ruined a $100 set of sights....if they don't work well, I guess I'll just buy new ones that I like.

Thank you for the feedback though, I'll keep it in mind when I can't hit the paper...haha

Anything is better than the factory sights. I replaced my rear sight on my SD9VE with a factory M&P rear sight. I bought it from Brownell's for $14 and change.
The painted on dots on my factory rear sight were crooked; one dot was higher than the other. SMH!

Haha, the crooked dots would have driven me mad. If my rear site doesn't work well, I'll be buying one from Brownells I guess

Seems to me that if you do that you will not be using the sight dots at all.

You could just as well paint then over and use the front and rear as sights.

I put the rear dot there to help line up the front sight left-right. They line up perfectly when the front site is centered. Looking at 3 whit dots made my eyes hurt and it was too difficult for me to focus on just the front. Now I just pick up the yellow dot and I'm on target. I debated on just losing the white dots on the rear but figured I'd add the small green one to see if it helped.

Well I ran 150 rounds through the gun today with the wife and didn't notice any kind of accuracy problems from the sights. The green dot almost completely disappears when you are focusing on the front sight so I'm going to change it to yellow and see if it makes it better. No regrets so far.

:cool:Just fitted a Novak fully adjustable Tritium rear sight for a M&P and a Meprolight .250 height Tritium front sight for a M&P with very little fitting...
Using 115HP Greenbox Remingtons and a little rear sight windage adjustment I was on center target at 15 yards all day long. Apex trigger using factory springs, Galloway metal recoil guide, just the front strap Talon decal, lightly sanded with 1000 grit the "*****'s" on the grip sides and back strap...No malfunctions whatsoever...This a Glock killer now, oh ya, I polished the sides and top of the slide for some bling.

Poor mans Glock 19

Thanks for the kind comments! Being retired now lets me tinker.

I took a Glock 42 Gen4 with a bad rap for feeding and accuracy issues and fixed that one too.

I enjoy taking value priced firearms and turning them into the way
they should have been manufactured in the first place and then put them up against hi-end firearms...kinda fun, makes no financial sense in doing so but I have one of a kinds!

Started shooting back in 1976 when the American Handgunner Magazine 1st came out...been hooked ever since:)

Very nice.....I'm just starting out but I like to tinker also. My only problem is I'm unemployed at the moment because I'm a full time student....with two kids. Not much tinkering money for me.

Please advise: Did you cut dovetails for both the front and rear sights on your Sigma? Approximate co$t for the front & rear, please.

Thanks!

p.s. I went the other way 7+ years ago with a laser, but I really like the idea of fully adjustable sights at the range.

This is a SD9VE, used the factory dovetails...
Minor fitting was done to the bottom (underneath) the sights.
Used an aluminum punch to drive them into the dovetails.
Looks factory and dead on at 15 yards using white box 115 grain Winchester FMJ.
