I have been looking over the Christensen Arms rifles for several years and with the development of the 6.5 PRC cartridge I finally broke down and brought one home.

Yes, a bit spendy.....Just under $2K for the rifle and $900 for the scope plus rings & sales tax.

Was looking for a round that had a long reach and not beat the **** out of you......I hope this fits the bill, but I have read good reviews so we'll see.

Decided on the Ridgline model which weighs in at 6.7 pounds without the scope......and add right at 1 pound for the Vortex Razor HD LH 3-15X scope.
Under just over 7.5 pounds.....not bad.

That’s a neat setup. A friend of mine has a. Christensen rifle in .300 Win. Mag. that he hunts elk with. It is a very impressive piece of ordnance. Bet you’ll like yours a lot!

This one should do pretty well on elk within a reasonable distance with the 143 grain bullet. Shot placement is key of course.
But this 6.5 should be amazing on deer, anelope and similar game.

The new .300 PRC is an amazing round......may be one in my future eventually.

Congrats on a nice looking rig. I know a couple of pretty serious rifle shooters who have nothing but praise for about anything with the Christensen Arms name on it. I recently looked at one of their 6.5 AR's. Seemed VERY nice, but expensive, and not something I could really justify considering the various rifles I already own.

I think you will like this setup. I'm looking hard at building or buying a 6.5 PRC. With you can eek out another couple hundred Ft/sec. over factory loads with hand loading. Me likey!

You have purchased and set up what I would consider the perfect field / hunting rifle. Christensen makes quality rifles, the 6.5 is a great caliber, I have no history with the PRC, but do with several other 6.5’s. The carbon fiber wrap barrel is a most interesting innovation. I have a friend who builds custom rifles and he highly recommends them. That weight and caliber match for something you would carry over hill and dale, and be able to reach out and put meat in the freezer. Hope you enjoy it for years to come.

After a little thought I am going to remove the muzzle brake and put on the thread protector that came with the rifle. These guns are just too darn loud with the brake in a hunting situation in my opinion. I have a friend who strongly suggested I remove it after he suffered some hearing loss from shooting without ear protection in a hunting situation.

Sure you can carry some foamies to plug in your ears before you shoot at an animal, but if you have to make a quick shot......and don't have time to do that.....there goes a good part of your hearing!

Although shooting even one shot without hearing is NOT good practice, the majority of us have shot at animals without the ears being covered.

I have not shot this rifle yet, but I cannot imagine it's going to kick much different from my old faithful 30-06.
