What gun can I get to go with these old grips?

I picked up these grips and I would like to find a gun that fits them. I am told they fit round butt K frames. Can't quite make out the number stamped on them but it looks like 294604. The first number is difficult to read. I don't own any round butt K frames but I would like to pick up something interesting. Any suggestions for model and time period? I tend to like target guns.

It is hard for me to tell what they fit without any reference for the 'size'.
Pictures with a ruler, front and back would help me figure it out. Perhaps others can make an educated guess without more information.

Those probably came on a post-war M&P.

LOL, which war 1 or 2. My square butt target is close to that serial # but lower.

Mine is serial # C1705XX

With the rounded guttering around the checkered area, Post-WWII, as Chad says. They still have the diamond centers. So, before 1968. I agree with Chad that they likely came on a 2" M&P with a C serial prefix.

Here we go on the size - it also does look like the M and P 2" to me. I have the longest length at 3 1/4" and the flat part of the bottom at 1 1/8".

I was thinking they are for a Baby Chiefs Special or an early Terrier (which are the same), but this thread made me get out my early Baby Chiefs and a ruler. Results below. The OP stocks are a bit larger, so not a Baby Chiefs or Terrier. The larger Chiefs and Terrier stocks to my knowledge were Magna style, not Service stocks....

They look like they might be magnas converted to early post-war service stocks. Is there a steel washer on the back? I'm leaning toward that being the case. If not, they're fairly scarce. I have a twin to the one in post #3 with the post-war non magna K service stocks.
