Who Loves .22 Revolvers?

I've Had several .22 revolver over the years: The Ruger convertible was great. I let my BIL talk me out of it. My H&R was a real shooter too but I sold it to buy something else. I only have 2 right now, one is the heritage convertible. It is a better paper weight than gun. My other one is my 617-6 and it's the best one I've EVER had...by far. Got my first copper head with it a few days ago. I call it my snake charmer.

On the other hand I haven't had much luck with .22 semiautomatics. The Sig 1911-22 couldn't get through a full magazine without one problem or another: Stove pipe, jam, misfire. Required tools for cleaning. Not my thing.

I had a Ruger too and it was a shooter. But I got tired of that doggone hammer strut when reassembling after cleaning. That just ain't my thing neither.

2 K-22 Masterpieces, one is a 17-2, the other a 17-4.

Enjoy a c.1954 K22, a M18 and a M63 - but everyone here knows what they look like.....
Here's a couple of 'working man's .22 revolvers' from yesteryear that proved to be great performers and still are.
To think - these were the 'econo - revolvers' of their day, and no manufacturer could duplicate them now for less that many, many hundreds of dollars.

- A H&R M999 'Sportsman', c.1970, and a Iver Johnson 'Sealed Eight', from late 1940's(?)

Have a "Pug" model myself in 22 magnum.

This little popper is way more accurate than most would think due to its XS sights.

Pretty fun (and not difficult) to walk a can across a yard/field. :)

OK, now i've got the fever. looking for .22lr (if it has a 22WMR cylinder that is a nice +) 4 or 5" barrel, DA, adjustable sights and 8 or 9 rounds ( hey it's a .22, drill more holes) is preferable and a trigger that doesn't require 2 fingers to pull. Are there any in the second tier of pricing like Rossi and (G*d forbid taurus) that are worth looking for?

I've had a few .22 over the years: a single action Kimel Industries-piece of junk; an Old Model Ruger Bearcat and a blue New Bearcat and a stainless New Bearcat-I added another cylinder that I rechambered to .22 Magnum; an Old Model Single Six with the drift rear sight; a Colt New Frontier-6" with both cylinders; a Colt Officer's Model Target .22 LR; a S&W M34 and a M43; a 1947 K-22; a 1 1/4" .22 Magnum NAA; a H&R 2" top break and a M922.

Ruger Single Six with a magnum cylinder - 1968
Iver Johnson Supershot - 1938
Smith & Wesson Model 34-1 - 1969
Smith & Wesson Model 17-3 - 1975
Colt Officers Model Match - 1968

The OMM is the most accurate of the bunch. But the old Owl Head has been fun to use on the Wednesday night old geezer club matches. Still casually looking for a Police Positive Target to round out the conglomeration.

Sauer & Sohn started making guns again after WWII in Eckernförde around 1952 and was making revolvers for the export market until they became SIG Sauer in 1976 and the revolver manufacturing equipment went south, to Euroarms in Italy. Their revolvers were mostly imported by Hawes of California and the double action revolvers are well made firearms. The double action revolvers were made in Italy after 1976 for a number of years under a different model name and without the high gloss blue.
These .22 l.r. are great shooters!

Here are my .22 Revolvers, an H&R 900, it is the first gun I ever bought. I used most of my H.S. graduation money on it. After a few years the pinned barrel got a bit loose. A drop of Loctite on it solved the problem, now after over 50 yr. it is still solid.
Below it my S&W 63, 3" I bought in 2018, A great gun for plinking and dispatching poisonous snakes and other varmints sneaking onto our property which backs up to thousands of acres of Cypress swamp.
