Electric kettle help

I've seen a lot of them lately in Home Goods and other stores. Seem average price is around $25. But of course my wife wanted one made in Italy for $160 ….. it's pink …. Brand name SMEG. But I gotta admit it's very well made all stainless interior and heats the water quickly. Don't ask why I know what's in Home Goods lol……

I don't get it. Is this something that keeps water hot all day. Well maybe if I had gotten the latest Home Goods mag:D:eek::D, I would be up on this.

I am having tea right now. Tea Bag goes in cup, honey, and water. Mug goes in microwave, hot tea comes out in 90 seconds. What could be better?

Living/working in Asia, electric kettles are as common as rice and chopsticks. Mine is a Cuisinart. Very handy. You can also get by with a drip coffee/tea maker too, but you asked about electric kettles.

Use your imagination ;)
Son bought his grandmother one a couple Christmases ago, she didn't want it and it found a useful spot on my countertop. Plenty of uses for boiling water besides tea and noodles. Bit of vinegar or citric acid for the scale and a rub down with a drop of olive oil keeps it purty.

We have had the earlier version of this cheap Hamilton Beach for about 10 years now and it still heats up quickly.

If you're only doing one cup of water, for your cup of tea, microwave is the way to go.

But if you need several cups - you're making a French press of coffee, for example - this thing is quite handy.

Do they still make electric immersion heaters? Used one all through college to make instant coffee. You just need to learn to unplug it after use or bad things can happen. I would have used a microwave except they hadn't been invented yet.

We kept an electric kettle on the test van at work . Plug it into the inverter and heat up water for hot chocolate during the winter . Cheap one from Walmart . Worked good .

Wife used a tea kettle for years (since before we were married) to make her morning tea. About 4 years ago she got an electronic kettle from Faberware and the tea kettle has been put away. Best endorsement I can think of.
