My motto (and practice) is, if I can fix it or refurbish it - I will keep it. Almost 100% of the time, older (vintage) is just soooooo much better!!
To (mis-) quote an old saying, "Life's a Beach, and then it dies."My motto (and practice) is, if I can fix it or refurbish it - I will keep it. Almost 100% of the time, older (vintage) is just soooooo much better!!
I am old enough to remember when things lasted for a long time, and were made somewhere... somewhere close to home... I think it was called the USA... where things used to be made with pride, and it lasted.
It is such a pain anymore to find anything that is not built like cheap garbage or gets you your money's worth.
Sorry you're having these issues. I am not a fan of their "products" in general. Good luck with customer service!
Brand names mean nothing anymore . Nearly everything is manufactured in China by whatever factory could provide the best price and logistics . Nothing is designed to be repairable and there's no parts supply chain anyway .
For many years I carried the same comb in my back pocket. Never lost a tooth. Made in the USA. When I finally lost it I replaced it with another of the same brand only now it's made in China. In less than a weeks' time so many teeth had broken off (my "unbreakable" comb) that it was useless. A while back I was out with a friend who was looking for a new pocket knife. He wanted a good one so looked at only well known USA brands. Every one of them said China on the blade.
Add Microtech to the list.Zero Tolerance, Kershaw, and Benchmade both make some very nice USA made knives.

And you'll pay for it. Sort of good/cheap/fast- pick two.

Not necessarily.
Amazon.com
Amen.
The real irony is people complaining about all the unrepairable stuff that goes into landfills while continuing to buy unrepairable stuff that goes into landfills.
I'm a Kershaw fan. But I will say you have to be careful on certain models. They have a USA made line and they have a Chinese made line. I have purchased USA models and have had great luck. the one in your link from Amazon is a USA model. Let's just hope it's genuine. I'm learning not to trust Amazon very much.
Blade HQ has it for the same price and shows the same country of origin, USA.
