I don't mean to drive this thread off a cliff but my best handcuff story happened when I had been on the job for about a year or so. I was filling in for one of the desk officers when an absolutely stunning, I mean stunning, blonde in a leopard print leotard came to the lobby window. Teary eyed, she held up her arm and dangling from her wrist was a pair of hand cuffs."I can't find the key!". But of course. Helping is what I do so she was invited into the station for some help. The problem was that the cuffs were some odd ball make that no one had ever seen, never mind had a key for. What to do? "Should I go over to the Fire Department?" "NO, NO, NO. They don't know anything about handcuffs. Besides, they might be sleeping or eating or something and we don't want to disturb them." So after a half hour or so, somethings can't be rushed, of judicious application of a small screwdriver, the offending cuff magically sprung open and she was free. A big hug and she was out the door never to be seen again. For most of my career, those cuffs hung in my locker. That was 40+ years ago and I can see it like it happened this morning. Sorry for the war story but that meme with the cuffs hanging from the bed post brought it to mind.
