Yep. support for Win 10 will be ending. It pretty much says I need to buy a new computer. So I can use Win 11.

I will not be assimilated!

Recently bought a refurb Dell, Win 11 pro, high end graphics, lots of ram, blue tooth, wifi, etc, off ebay, $450 from top seller of these. I am super pleased! Created a local account not microsoft, loaded all my back ups and software, and could not be happier. Had Win 7 pro lol.

I followed a couple of videos on YouTube and installed W 11 on three of my computers that gave me the same message. So far everything seems to be working perfectly. Mine were flagged for unsupported processors.

The biggest problem with Win11 upgrades is drivers for the internal and added cards and chips. Video, network, audio, and others. Seemingly MS is just not sharing core code and core access to create drivers for older hardware. Completely against their usual habits, though they did a similar thing years ago with Win8, insuring trying to downgrade to Win7 a PITA. I have a "fixed" Win11 Pro that will install on "unsupported" Win10 hardware, as it leaves the drivers alone during the install. Limited usefullness, but it works.

boob tube and online research shows how to download the win 11 installer for free.
Then download the win 10 installer for free.

Open win 10 installer, copy a command phrase or like, open win 11 installer, cut that phrase and paste the win 10 phrase.
Now you can install win 11 on your 'so called non-win 11 compliant PC'.

I have my 11 installer ready hacked to install later.

Not sure I'm going to roll the dice on the older laptops we have here. One took Win 10 like it was made for it, which was a shocker. I often use a Win 7 box, which is supposed to be majorly vulnerable, but it's "behind" a lot of other things.

I used an image creation tool called Rufus to create my W11 install flash drive. Rufus has a menu to choose what permissions to use, and whether or not to save drivers, apps, and data. It's a good resource.

Win11 (Pro only - Home is crippled) still has changes that make it constantly annoying. The multi-page right click menus are stripped down. Functions are split between Control Panel and Settings, and hard to navigate. It constantly forgets Folder View settings. This is on a growing older I-7 with 32Gb of ram and SSD's for the drives, built by me, maybe the 30th computer I've built over years. It's done that since the upgrade a year ago.

I sold my newest, a factory W11 ASUS laptop to a friend who needed a newer computer for her work. I replaced it with a MacBook Air. Eventually, the desktop will quit, so I'll replace it with a Mac, or if I can still afford parts, it will run a Linux desktop. Linux you say? Your Android phone is related. So are your smart tv's. Your car, as well. Also your Kindle, though Amazon will deny it.

You can still install Win11, but it takes a bit of work. I have done this, and it worked for me, but no guarantees.

In Windows, hit Start and type regedit, then hit enter to launch the Registry Editor. Navigate to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\MoSetup, either by pasting that whole address into the box just beneath “File, Edit, View, Favorites, Help” or by drilling down through the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and System and Setup and MoSetup folders one at a time. In the right pane, right-click and pick New > DWORD (32-bit) Value. Name the value “AllowUpgradesWithUnsupportedTPMOrCPU” minus the quotes. Double-click on the new value you created, and enter 1 into the Value data field. Hit OK and close the registry editor.

Then you should be able to install Win11. Note: If you don't follow the instructions EXACTLY you can really louse things up.

LOL. To quote "The House of the Rising Sun", messing with the registry "has been the ruin of many a poor boy..." (...thank G*d I've not been one." But I run mostly Mac.)

And the MacOS. And NAS boxes, security camera DVRs... Linux is under the hood of a lot of gear.

My desktop PC keeps wanting me to upgrade to Win 11, but I keep stopping it.

I have 2 desktop's, and one laptop with 10. I have one laptop with 11, but I only use it to watch movies on at my moms winter place. Since she got WiFi, it's hardly ever used. Watch streaming sites on her TV now.

Win 7 was the best ever operating system in my opinion.

Windows 10 windows 11 what's that! I'm still running windows 7 and it works perfectly.:)

Amazingly MS still sends me security updates and there has been no issues.

I know the end of 7 is coming and I'm preparing to download and operate with a Linux OS.

In the mean time, for those with old laptops who would like to continue to use them there is another solution.

Chrome book released a free OS system over a year ago called Chrome OS Flex.

It's a very basic cloud based OS.

It also will except Linux programs either by line commands or downloading as a DEB file.

I'm no computer whiz but following online tutorials it was installed on an Asus laptop and it works!

So never give up never surrender to MS if you have a PC or laptop that still runs.

I still have a Dell running Windows XP. It runs programs you don’t see anymore and still works great…just don’t use it on the Internet.

When it became obsolete I bought the biggest iMac computer from Apple. The display is the whole computer. Now years later we still have the iMac, plus 2 iPads and 2 iPhones. I refuse to be forced to buy something new every time Bill Gates needs a new jet.

I'm in the same position. Our 4 computers can't run 11. However I don't see the need. This one is still on 7 and the rest are on 10. No operability problems that I can see.
Is there a benefit to 11? If so I may try one of the Utube hacks.
