Does RMR red dot mount directly on MP 2.0 compact (optics ready) without adapter?

Does a red dot with an RMR plate need an additional S&W plastic adapter plate to mount on the MP 2.0 compact?

I'm thinking of a Meprolight PRO-S enclosed red dot which already has an 0.38" high base so any adapter plate thickness that can be shaved off would be good.

thanks!

An RMR red dot will NOT mount directly to the M&P. You need to use one of the included plates and set of screws (or an aftermarket one).

The Meprolight Pro-S has the RMSc/JPoint footprint. Do you mean the Pro-F?

The plates not only provide the proper recoil surfaces but fill the gap left by "shorter" red dots like the RMR.

If you get the closed optic (PRO-S) they typically use an ACRO-type mount: I have the Viridian RFX45 on my M&P40 PC C.O.R.E. with the RMR adaptor plate (mine is metal) and it co-witnesses with the tall sights perfectly.

Cheers!

The manual I download said RMR and RMSc plates are included but the product pages make clear the PRO-S has the RMSc adapter only.

I don't want to use plastic adapter plates because of the risk the recoil lugs will break off. There are plenty of metal RMR adapter plates for the M&P 2.0 Compact.

Do you know of any metal RMSc adapters for it?

thanks!

C&H Precision and Calculated Kinetics essentially make CORE 2.0 to RMSc adapter plates. They just use the Holosun K modified version of RMSc (slightly shorter front posts, no back posts) and are sold as Holosun EPS plates.

However, I do not recommend that you get one for this Meprolight Pro S, nor should you buy a Meprolight Pro S at all unless your slide is cut for the RMSc footprint like on a Shield/Shield Plus.

The Pro S is misleadingly sold as using an RMSc footprint. If the pictures are correct, it does not have an RMSc footprint, it comes with an adapter plate that does. To put this on an M&P, you would be stacking the Meprolight's Pro S to RMSc plate on top of an RMSc to CORE 2.0 plate.

If you're set on an enclosed optic, save up a little more money and get a Holosun EPS (Holosun K footprint) or Steiner MPS (Aimpoint ACRO footprint). Or, save up a lot more money for a Trijicon RCR (RMR footprint) or an Aimpoint ACRO.
