I'm looking for a picture of the Springfield plant in the 1950s.
I have googled this until my eyes are blurry. I can find lots of 1908 pictures, pictures of the new Tennesse facility and some miscellaneous pictures of headquarters, museum, gated area but nothing like I'm looking for.

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Do you have Google Earth or Maps? Search 2100 Roosevelt Ave, Springfield, MA.

If you call S&W they probably can E-mail you a publicity photo. 800-331-0852

If a conversation with the factory's media liaison person does not yield what you are looking for then give a phone call to the Chamber of Commerce in Springfield MA.

They will quite often have historical photos available

There are also many stock photo websites. These include Shuttertock, Alamy, Getty Images, Adobe Stock, iStock and others

If none of those sources can take care of you there are multiple published books about the history of Springfield that contain photographs

However unless you reside in Springfield I doubt that your local library would have copies of these. So you might actually have to purchase them

Two sources that I would look at are "Springfield 375 Years: A Photo Retrospective of Greater Springfield" or possibly "Smith & Wesson (MA) (Images of America)"

I supposed there absolutely had to be such a photo in the article Raw Steel to Smith & Wesson-The Story of Revolver Making in the 1954 edition of the Gun Digest----a 10 page, 60 pictures photo essay (with captions).

There certainly should've been, but there isn't!

Given your interest in the building, perhaps you'd like to have pictures of what was going on inside. That being the case, send a PM to me with your snail mail address, and it will appear in your mailbox directly.

In the upper left, is a picture of my Corvette in front of the Guard House. They graciously allowed my wife and I to take a tour of the facility and get a quick photo.
