Hey Everyone,

I just bought an M&P 10, with the 18" barrel. And I am wondering if anyone can tell me if it will play nice with IGMAN 150 or 180grain ammunition? Is there anything I should know?

Thanks!

It all depends on what you mean by "play nice". As long as the ammunition is manufactured to SAAMI or CIP standards, and all European commercial ammunition is CIP compliant, it should be fine. Only you will know if it feeds, functions and is accurate in your firearm by shooting it. Reports of what results others have in their guns are often immaterial to what you will observe in your gun.

"Play nice" covers a multitude of sins. Are you asking if the ammo has a pressure curve suitable for the AR-10 gas system? Are you looking for accuracy numbers? Trouble is, you often don't know until you try...or somebody else does and posts a report on Youtube. :)

Small example of my experience with some 7.62 NATO 147gr surplus from Germany. Yep, it functioned fine in my surplus piece parts FAL, and gave the typical 4 MOA accuracy you get from one of those rifles. Same ammo in a Howa 1500 was no more accurate. Weird, because Winchester 150 SP ammo (hardly sniper quality) was easily 2 MOA or better. OK, so I figured it must be 4 MOA ammo. Not unusual with milspec, general issue ammo. Errm, not necessarily. Tried this ammo in a Chilean 1912 long rifle converted to 7.62 NATO and the ammo was laser accurate, even with my eyes and those awful Mauser sights. You just never know until you try a given ammo in your gun.

My version of play nice only relates to any feed or ejection issues. For example if someone who has tried IGMAN ammo told me it was having feeding problems in their m&p10, even though I understand it may not be the case in my rifle, I would still avoid investing in a few hundred rounds of the ammo.

With other rifles I own, I have found the experience of others to be fairly good predictors of how ammunition is going to act in a specific platform.

Has someone told you they have had problems? You don't need to buy "a few hundred rounds", just a box or two to try them out for yourself. If you have issues in your gun then don't buy any more.:D:D

People post complaints often about common major manufacturer ammunition in their semi-automatics. I own a dozen or so 9mm pistols, commercial and military, and have had for many tears. I have never had any issues with any commercially ammunition from any source, military, hand-loaded or otherwise in any of them over the past 40 years! If you experience function issues with any ammunition it is far more likely there is a problem with your gun, not the ammunition.
