My only one, now. When each of our kids was old enough to leave the nest, I let them pick one of my handguns to keep and take with them. My daughter picked my three-screw Ruger Single Six. Being without a Single Six just didn't feel right, so I eventually picked this one up.

This thread is great...I almost forgot I had one until reading this. Opened the safe, rooted around for a while, couldn't find it. Went to a locked storage cabinet and there it was, still in its original plastic case that it came in way back in 2002.
A Lipsey's special order under Model No. AS 0627, 4-5/8" bbl, all stainless, 22LR or 22 WMR with the extra cylinder installed, the grips are genuine Rosewood medallion and the whole rig looks great in my Galco western holster.
The kids, boys and girls loved this gun, one of their first when they were old enough to safely shoot with us adults. The Single Action was just perfect for teaching proper handling, stance, aiming and recoil handling.
Put away some years ago when the last daughter left for college, then became a state LEO. Nowdays, handguns and rifles in the safe just seem to be more popular than the 22 Ruger Single Six, and the Remington Nylon 66 short plastic rifles so popular with them in their youth.
Alas.....they will all be waiting for them to reclaim them when they are going through the things after I'm gone, unless I get at the grandkids when they are old enough.

First gun, bought while in HS. Probably 30-35000 rounds through it. Haven't shot it in years, need to remedy that !
November 2013 build, purchased in 2019. Added the fiber sight recently.
Had a mid-70's identical to it but had to sell in the early 2000's during a cash flow problem. Happy to get that one replaced.
Target is 30 rounds the day I picked it up at the LGS/indoor range.

I picked this one up today....it's been in CA DROS prison for 10 days. Found it on website, called the seller, and he drove 40 miles to meet me for a PPT. It's a 6 1/2" blued Bisley Single Six chambered in 32 H+R Magnum. It came with a box of "stuff"....brand new Redding die set, Lee FCD, 2 boxes of XTP HP bullets, 500 RNFP cast coated bullets, about 50 RIM Rock FN gas checked bullets, 250 pieces of Starline brass and a invoice from Hamilton Bowen detailing a action/trigger job, free spin pawl, and polishing chamber holes. This gun is basically new hasn't been fired much. I paid a grand total of $525 for the whole works. It also came with the original box. I'll see if I can get some pics up

I still have my stainless convertible I bought new. I should check the SN but think it was late 70's to 1980. Ive shot it a bit but it's still really clean and in the box with all the papers. The price tag is still with it and was $189. I have the Ruger branded holster with the flap too. It's a fun gun to shoot.

I take it the seller is in a trunk somewhere around Poway desert unable to testify against you?
I most always think of Single Six as 22lr, but did trip across this a few years ago - Single Six in 327 Federal Magnum
The bird's head grip never appealed to me, but on this size gun it handles very well. Not much recoil and points well.
I've owned a half dozen Single-Sixes over the years, going back to my time when I fancied myself as some kind of "collectorl". I finally got over that, and sold off most of them, except for this one, which is actually my wife's. After she escaped from Chicago and made her way to Virginia, and found out she could buy a gun with no FOID card, she announced she wanted a "cowboy gun" of her very own. We found this one, a lightly used 50th anniversary Single-Six, in like new condition, with the box and papers at my LGS. I think she paid $329.00 for it, but it was 20? 25 years or so ago. The magnum cylinder has never been installed, since we've had it anyway.
It doesn't get shot much anymore. The ruptured aneurysm in her brain left her unable to shoot much these days, but it's still HER gun. Don't you even think of getting rid of it. No worries about that. Like her Wally-World Special 10/22, it's one of those guns that will always be here.

No....the seller is still in play. He was a young feller and he set the price. I normally try to do some friendly bargaining when I buy a used gun but when I saw the price just told him I'll take it. I think he was probably selling it to get something "better" like a Glock or something.I wouldn't trade that Bisley for TWO Glocks
