Actually, I worry about those Aussies at MetalStorm, who have been working with NJIT to produce this "technology". They will probably get their share of government contracts for their help in making a ON-THE-BOOKS "NJ Stealth Law" take effect, one that is worse than ANYTHING proposed nationally. Read below:
The current NJ statute, adopted in 2002, states that once a "smart gun" technology is developed and approved for handguns, it will become the ONLY allowable product legal for sale in NJ. If MetalStorm (or Taurus, who expressed early interest in developing this, as well) develops a handgun that meets the NJ criteria, it will be the only one available for purchase. Other manufacturers will have to adopt this technology or lose the NJ market.
If you think that this is "tin foil hat" hysteria, Google the NJ Smart Gun Law, read the article below:
Coming to a legislature near you soon?

How rich is that? MORONS in a state legislature mandating "smart gun" technology.

Why don't these bozos look at Heller vs DC. Smart technology, totally unproven, is not a "reasonable" government requirement.

All it will do is produce a crop of expensive, unreliable firearms and then of course, money for lawyers when one of these absurd firearms fails at the worst time and results in someone being killed or maimed.

It's long since time for America to wake up and get rid of these political parasites who are supposed to serve the public but serve only themselves. Starts at the White House. Don

Probably because Heller was years after this legislation. You are correct that the technology doesn't work for several technical and practical reasons.

Lautenberg, Corzine and some other NJ senator I've forgotten have funnelled millions into this program. Success has always been a few years away(but of course never comes). Just another example of politicians bringing home the pork at taxpayer expense and accomplishing nothing.

Lose the NJ Market? That's rich right there!

Now, now, don't underestimate the buying power of NJ, even with its oppressive gun laws.
NJ's population is a bit under 9 million, quite comparable to Georgia's 9.8 million. The Association of New Jersey Rifle and Pistol Clubs (ANJRPC) estimates approximately 2.5 million gun owners in the state. That's a figure that no firearm manufacturer can ignore.
I've just relocated from north Jersey, where I was a member of two private clubs, both located within five miles of my home. The major state range, which has well over 1000 members, was only about 35 minutes away. My new home, in central Jersey, is filled with enthusiasts and ranges. I just joined the largest local private club in the area (2500 members, state-of-the-art facilites for all shooting sports, and a 10 minute drive from my home.
We're not dead yet here in NJ...................

Now, that IS nice. Sounds like a great facility.

Isn't Corzine up for reelection? If so, send him and his billions back home to where ever that dirtbag came from. Don

Corzine got the boot last November, despite spending what was the GNP of some countries.
He's replaced by Republican, Chris Christie, a former federal prosecutor who is a fiscal conservative and has already shaken up many with significant budget cuts to reduce our staggering deficit.
He's mid-road on the firearms issue. Much of the pending Corzine anti-gun legislation has been stopped dead in its tracks. We'll see what happens in that respect.
He says that he doesn't care about reelection and was elected to get the budget and state economy under control. Google/YouTube him, as he just had a news conference where he laid into the media about the above.

Thanks for the update, ncy54. Christie sounds like a real improvement although an empty desk would be better than Corzine. Don

Christie may very well be a HUGE surprise. I've got some contcts in NJ and Christie has become quite popular lately. There are MILLIONS of NJ Residents fed up with their taxes, runaway Pork, ineffective big Govt, etc.

He may even finally reign in the runaway NJ education system....he's at odds with the Teachers Union already. I'd love to see NJ get rid of all the "Administrators" and get back to education.

That's correct, Dueeast. I'm more of a pistol & rifle guy at present, but those beautiful trap and skeet fields may get me to pull out that trap gun that I bought on a whim last year. Hope to see you there.
