California Senate Bill 427 was vetoed, or was it.
California Senate Bill 427 was to establish a record keeping system for ammunition sales. It was going to be like the failed ATF ammunition record keeping that stopped in the mid 1980s. No useful information was ever obtained from the ATF record keeping nor were there any prosecutions concerning record keeping. Just a big waste of time and money.
Goevernor Moonbeam vetoed SB427 that would have duplicated the failed ATF program, but this is what he wrote to the california Senate:
To the members of the California State Senate:
I am returning Senate Bill 427 without my signature.
This measure would amend a recently enacyed law concerning the sale and purchase of handgun ammunition. That law is currently being litigated.
Let's keep our powder dry on ammendments until the court case runs its course.
Sincerely,
Edmund G. Brown, Jr.
