Backing is very thin, seems to be a hard gutta percha type material!! Magwell side does have a 30 degree slant!
These Grips are atleast 10 years old, probably older and came off of a 1951 colt super just a few days ago, so they fit and lay perfectly flat!

Pictured here on a pre-80 series Colt Combat Commander frame: PS these grips fit very tight on both of my 50's-70's pistols!
