Default Pictures of .38/44 Factory Ammunition?

Greetings,

Does anybody pictures of factory loaded .38/44 cartridges for the Heavy Duty and Outdoorsman? Several past threads have shown many, many interesting cartridge boxes, but not the rounds themselves. I am interested in headstamps, side profiles, bullet closeups- pretty much anything!

Thanks!

I didn't take the time to look for .38/44's, but you can probably find what you are looking for here:

Google Images will give you some photos. The below link will give you images of 4 different 38-44 ctgs with headstamps.

Don't forget that Colt also put its name on the cartridge.

I was at a small gun show this weekend and saw a box of ammo that I decided to pick up to go with my 38/44 Outdoorsman. Seller said $20 and that was OK with me. The box had a missing end flap and there were 47 rounds in the box, but I had not seen one of these boxes before.

A couple of hours after I bought the ammo, I purchased the Heavy Duty in the first photo. I had been on a casual search for a good “shooter grade” HD for some time, and having the ammo in hand, it seemed like a good match

I’m not an ammo collector and don’t know much about the older stuff, but I noticed these use the large primer. I’m guessing late 1930’s to 1940’s? Also, the headstamp on the cartridge is "Super Speed .38 Special" while the picture on the box is "WRA Super .38 Spl".

Here are some more boxes of ammo I believe are correct for use in the heavy frame 38 Caliber revolvers. Especially the boxes calling out the 38-44 of course and the 200 grain bullet loadings.

Wow! Cool Pics!

Thanks for reviving my long lost thread.

That .38 Colt Super Speed is really interesting. Could you spare a few for a chrono out of your new HD?
