.357 Magnum 110gr Barnes TAC-XP Lead Free 50rds.

This loading makes the .357 Magnum perform like it should!
Velocity is from a 4" bbl and there is virtually no muzzle flash.
This loading is a perfect load for CCW. 13.25" penetration and .71" expansion in 10% gelatin. The temporary wound channel measures 4" in diameter!

Velocity: 1640fps / 4" Ruger GP-100
1470fps / 1 7/8" S&W
1810fps / 6"bbl S&W 686

Bullet: 110gr Barnes TAC-XP

Muzzle Energy: 657 ft. lbs. 4"bbl

i only seen a few tests done on doubletap ammo and the velocities seem to be pretty close but the jhps have expanding problems witch led to overpenetration but they look great for hunting unfortunatly i can never find anywhere that carrys dt ammo so i cant give an actual educated answer just opinions on other peoples test results

I know the hot Remington 125 grain loads clock somewhere in the 1400s so that doesn't seem too far out of line for 110, but why would you want that? I'm betting it disintegrates and makes a shallow wound.

more curiosity then anything else. was looking on their website and saw the stats

I've shot their 125gr 38 Special +P ammo, their heavy .357 Magnum ammo and two of the 45 Auto rounds but not their 110gr ammo. A 110gr bullet is very light so I have no trouble believing their numbers, especially since the 4 I shot came very close to the numbers posted on their site.

I've shot a fairly large number of their loads, but not this one. As I recall, I've chronoed every load I've shot, including ones in 9x19, .40, .357 and 10mm. The only load that did not ever live up the claimed velocity was a 200gr. 10mm FMJ, and in several different lots, it came in from 150-250 fps. below claimed figures. All the others I've tested, including at least three other 10mm loads, have met or exceeded claimed velocities. The 110 gr. figures posted here seem to be about what I'd expect; definitely not unreasonable.

For up close and personal this sounds like an effective load. Bad business to be on the receiving end... regardless of the distance involved. I've always liked the Remington 125gr. JHP load with the pedal point bullet. I have not found anything that can do more than equal it.

Wow, after poking around different sites checking stats, these guys, Double Tap, take the cake, I thought Buffalo Bore was serious. Are their +P loads like everybody elses +P+? I shoulda known once I saw that 'uncle' Ted Nugent reps for them! I'd like to see some testing done on ballistic gel, see how they expand at those speeds.

Having a fair amount of experience with their ammo, I have no doubt the velocity claims are true.

Now whether I'd shoot that particular load out of any of my .357 Magnum revolvers is another matter altogether. :D

True. I bought some WWB for the brass (bullets would go into .38 loads) & found I couldn't get the 110gr bullets out with my inertial puller.

No way I'm gonna shoot 'em...

i seen a video on youyube for the 9mm

I am going to say that the DT ammo looks good on paper, particularly the light bullet high speed stuff. I do use their 90 gr HPs in my 380, and they seem to work well on water jugs.
That being said, 90 gr for a 380 is just about standard for any HP load although Remington does have a Saber HP load in 102 gr.
As for the light 357 loads, I feel that the absolute minimum wweight in 357 should be 125 gr. Actually I like heavier, the reason? Penetration. Without penetration you don't have much of anything. A wide shallow wound looks really bad and may prove fatal, but it takes a load that will penetrate to STOP anything.
I train (and train my people) to go for central nervous system (CNS) or pelvic hits, either will unfailingly result in a stop. And both require penetration with a slug that will do damage where it penetrates.
My personal preference is for a pelvic hit, no one can keep going with a fracture or just a stunning hit in that location. And I believe that it is an easier hit to make than a CNS hit. The head is good of course, but is hard to hit as it has mobility of its own aside from the body mobility of the target.
However in any case penetration is what is required and light slugs provide less of it that heavier slugs, period.

I personally am a fan of the 125 grain or heavier rounds. When i had my 357 adn I will get another I used 125 REM's in the summer and 158 grain Gold Dots in the winter. When i get a new 357 i will use the same. DT and some of BB stuff is just too hot to be viable for SD to me personally. JMO

Not the 110 gr, but Double Taps 125 gr Gold Dot HP over my Oehler 35 averaged...

S&W 686 4" - 1,611 fps

Ruger Security Six 6" - 1,733 fps

I haven't shot any of them (it is a little too expensive / exotic for my tastes), but the bullet they use is a Barnes solid copper hollowpoint, so in theory it should hold together pretty well.

I've been talking up DoubleTap for a long time now over Buffalo Bore. Their ammo is as accurate and as fast or more than BB and their price is lower. I really like DT's ammo.
