Hi Guys. I bought some PMC 9mm JHP 115 gr.. I think it is in their "bronze" line of products. Was wondering if this is good for home defense. Some folks have stated that the ridiculous prices for jhp with all sorts of marketing ploys are too high priced, and i agree. So I went with something less expensive and still having the expansion. Does anyone have any feedback or opinions on my thinking? Thx

Not exactly true. Show me where PMC HP has been thoroughly tested in different media with different weights throughout the years.....and has performed well each time. If you think its all marketing ploys and hype then you dont need opinions because ALL hp perform equally well! In fact try some Russian HP!

I'll stick to Speer Gold Dot and Winchester Ranger.

LGS has speer gold dot 9mm 115 gr. for $22.99 25 ct.. Going to buy some tomorrow. Thx. You convinced me.

I like the Winchester Bonded PDX1 in 124 or 147gr in a JHP +P for Home defence.. I hear and read that most will go with something heaver then 115gr.. Walmart still had the PDX1's in stock at under $25 bucks a box of 20 rounds.. Not to bad I got mine from them a few years ago at $22 bucks a box so there not robing you blind with there pricing for a top of the line ammo. "Black and gold box".. I use the same brand and type in in +P for my .45, feeds floor less in both guns too..George

Any ammo you have will be better than no ammo for home defense.

Is your PMC 115 grain JHP top of the line home defense ammo? Probably not. Is it better than basic 9 mm FMJ? Probably.

I hand load and the bulk of my ammunition stocks on hand are what I feel are pretty good hand loads. I also keep small quantities of commercial self defense ammo on hand for the guns that would be put into service in that role.

When it comes to defending my life I don't count pennies per round.

But that said, I do have to confirm my gun likes the ammo I feed it, which means running several mags full downrange. It can get expensive!

So i buy Gold Dot, only use what I need to make sure it feeds well, then use ball ammo for range fun.

Still, Gold Dot for all the 9's I carry and hide and then run for verification still takes hundreds of rounds! Even if you only had two guns, 11 rounds each mag, two mags each, right there it's at least 44 rounds testing and 44 rounds refill!

I have tried 115gr FMJ 9mm of the following brands: S&B, Tula, PMC, Norinco, Magtech, Federal, Remington, RWS, Geco, I must say PMC and Geco are the best IMHO. As for JHP, I will stick with the following: Gold Dot, Hydrashock, Golden Sabre and Range T/PDX1 and Hornady Critical Defense.

You want the best SD ammo for protecting you and the family.........
I think Federal HST and Speer GoldDot is the best bullet design out there for the 9mm.
Just have to match the bullets to the length of your barrels
or see what feels or shoots the best for you.

The other ammo might be good, just what you think will work for you is what it all boils down to,any way.................
Some people think any FMJ ball ammo will work since thats what was used in the war...............and it is only $12 a box !!
