Dropped by one of their newer stores in this area, noticed that the Ammo was not in its usual place on top of the shelf at the "Customer Service Counter". I proceeded on to the Guns & Ammo section and found some 50 round plastic boxes of CCI .22 Magnum Rim Fire Ammunition priced at $11.99/box, is that a good price?
I asked the clerk if there was a limit on the amount a customer could purchase, his reply was "Not Back Here". {There was a posted sign saying that there is a TWO BOX limit (50 I presume)} on .22LR Ammo. I asked if there was any .22LR, "yea, those 50 round boxes behind the counter" for $6.?? /box of 50. He also advised that he had spent the entire night shift the night before stocking the shelves with the 550 round & 300 plus? round containers but they were all gone when he returned. I'm not sure what all this means but there possibly could be some .22LR the next time you shop there or anywhere else if you are there at the proper time.

Same thing happened to me Monday as I dropped in to Academy here and the ammo was not at customer service like it had been. I went to the gun and ammo counters and their center fire pistol calibers were on the shelves and they had plenty of target ammo and all the critical defense types also. They had 100 ct of both WW and RP on the shelves. Looked behind me and of all things behind the counter they had .22 ammo Federal American Eagle 50 rd boxes for $2.19 each. Got a couple of boxes and some 9mm. Next morning I go back to replace some 9mm I shot and they had about 5 -525 multipaks of .22.for $21.99 each. Got me a couple of those. One for my son. That was about 8:45 in the a.m. and I was suprised they had .22 ammo. Maybe things are beginning to ease off a little and we will see things return to some sort of normalcy in regards to ammo. Academy and Gander Mountain have their showcases full of guns and I mean packed.

The Academy in my area sells those 100 round boxes for around $10 IF--were talking about the exact same brand I see there and at Wally World???

The 50 rd boxes are behind glass-locked. Everything else no limit and at their regular shelf space.

Those prices and such same as here. Ive been in Academy late afternoon and can still find large packs on the shelf--even if not many. I bought the last 100 round pack of 9mm last week when last there. I havent been there since but will go again after Monday when I get back to town.

Pretty much here with the exception of the paid folks who buy for a few gun shops as well s that "Indian" who is still buying to scalp--er sale online. The good part is is they are doing that only a few times a week, instead of every morning.

I like Academy Sports. I got lucky last time and got two 100 packs of .22lr. When I called them they didn't have any. Decided to go anyways. They were just unpacking the boxes when I got there. :p

I went to the gun show today - not much activity because it is the opening weekend of deer season. There was plenty of 22LR mostly priced at double the Academy price.

My Academy stores allow 2 boxes of any size 22LR. You can get 2 -1,400 round buckets if you are there when the store opens. There are no limits on other ammo.

Through all the mess over the last 10 months, Academy has been the most consistent retailer. Their policies are fair and they treat everyone the same. If their employees want to buy anything, they have to get in line with the rest of us on their day off. (You know they have something good if the employees are there early in the morning).

The other big ammo retailers here are WalMart and Bass Pro. I don't know who buys all their ammo, but there is not much that reaches the shelf where I can buy it.

The only limits at my local Academy is on 22lr. You can only get 2, be it 50 round boxes, 100round boxes or 525 count boxes or 2 buckets. You get 2 and thats it. All the other ammo is limited to how much you can spend.

Well I see Remington buckets on the shelf through the front door. I forsee walking out the door soon with 2800 rounds of 22lr. This is what happens when check up on stores like Academy. Sometimes you make a score.

Ive scored there often and even scored 1,110 ---22 lr in one buying at Wm once.

I was there this morning when they opened, got my 2 boxes of federal automatch then went back to the gun counter and promptly bought the Ruger GP100 (blued) with houge grips and a 4 inch barrel.

Went to Wm today and got the standard answer before I could even ask: "We got no ammo in today." However, I did notice a few popular sized stuff were on the shelves and plenty at that.
