While at the range after cleaning up the spent brass I found an unusual shell, center fire 5.7x28 FN only one. Did some checking and found the info on it The primer was almost as big as the diameter of the end. It can be fired in long guns and handguns. Checked in on some ammo retailers and found out it is very expensive, Ill stick with my 9 40 22 and .223

That is a highly accurate round at great distances out of a handgun. The FN FIVESEVEN is an awesome gun to shoot if you can find one. Many of the European countries use that round in their submachine guns. That is a controversial round as some states dont allow the gun to be sold. it is known for being able to penetrate body armor very easily. In the 90's they tried to push that to replace 9mm as the NATO round.

I don't think they are expensive when you see what you are getting. The SS195 ammo went for a buck a round in the scare they were going to pull them. SS192 were all steel core. They are costly.

You can build an AR upper to shoot the 5.7mm round. They are pretty cool. The major difference is that the upper has a threaded barrel (no barrel nut) and it doesn't use a direct impingement gas system (it's just straight blowback). They use the same 50-round mag as the PS-90, and eject the spent cases down, through the mag well. You can even take the guts (and feed lips) out of a standard 30-round .223 magazine, and have the empties neatly deposit themselves in your empty mag. :)

Only one or two makers of that round, so, yes it's very expensive. The FN FiveSeven is an amazing pistol. I sold one to a co-worker and he loves it. Except for the ammo, of course. As I recall the mag holds 20 rounds. Small bullet but goes fast. I can't imagine trying to feed a P or PS 90!
