I went to WM, Academy and DSG for different things this morning. All those stores have not been selling 7.62 at all-or sold very few boxes. Well, where there were usually from 30-to-about 100 or more boxes to be seen--absolutely none left.

You are hallucinating. The shortage is Bravo Sierra. I ordered and received 400 pieces of Lapua brass last week. Figured once the ammo is gone the components will be next. Expensive but super high quality. I only use them in my T/C Encore.

Oh common, I'm not saying anyone is hallucinating or crazy. I'm just saying that a local convince store is not a good way to judge ammo availability. Considering that they don't all sell the same thing to begin with. Now I can understand if all the online distributors were out. But if I can order ammo online, which I almost always do, in 2 seconds then nothing "official" has happened

I went to my local wal-mart and its still stocked with .22lr as it has been for over the past few weeks. And it has plenty of 9mm this go around (last week it had very few). And of course theres plenty of 7.62x39.

Should I hurry and buy anything. Since they all seem to be pretty much in stock. Or should i just wait and see which ones disappear and then worry about buying it later?

You guessed it, i dodnt buy anything at all. As im sure i'm well stocked and all ends lol.

Just food for thought. Using Walmart is a poor way to judge ammo availability. For instance, there are no, none, zero ammo at any Walmart near me. Not ever sold, not even carried. They don't do ammo or firearms. I have to drive pretty far to find a Walmart that sells ammo.

I dont use WM to judge anything, I also dont use those apps, I also dont gamble, drink, smoke, chew tobacco, or do illegal drugs.

As I clearly stated in the OP, I went to three big box stores and merely reported all three were completely out of 7.62--when they had filled shelves the day before.

They are not apps. They are online retailers. ..like midway, Sportsmans guide, Natchez. .etc...etc. It doesn't tell you where you can get ammo they are the places where to get ammo from. Aimsurplus is a store with a store front, they also sell online. They are excellent to deal with.

You don't have to smoke or drink to see that online retailers/sellers have plenty of x39

Just how can one come to that kind of a conclusion from my first post? Doesnt make sense. All I did was report fact--there is zero fiction involved.

That may be true in Baton Rouge, but not in Corpus Christi WM on staples and Gollihar-nor Dicks on Staples and McArdle and Academy on South Padre Island Drive.

Im just pointing out that local yahoos are buying into that internet started insanity--which really blows my mind.:rolleyes: In other words--local lemming mentality.

Beam Me Up Scotty--and hurry.

Went past the show today in Winchester, didn't go in it looked too crowded and with bad legs I didn't want to fight the crowd. But I did stop in over priced GM right next to the show. They had plenty overpriced ammo of all sorts including piles of 7.62X39 but no .22 that I saw. Left there and went to Wally World, got my 3 boxes of 7.62X39 and guy behind me go two plus .45 for his three boxes and there were plenty still left. I still see plenty online but you know how that goes as soon as some idiot starts a rumor it'll go fast. Maybe I should buy another couple K and sell it for a profit like I'm sure others are doing now.

I dunno? looks like people in my area want any excuse to scalp others. One thing I will say, I dont know how many gun shops here are getting others to stand in line to buy for them--such as the Survivalist Store on Corona, ill never spend a penny in his store Im satisfied buying all my guns at the gun shows. I figured another more famed shop whose name ill not post but are located on Staples--they also pay retirees to stand in line to get what is allowed, they will never see a penny from me either.

Look how many of those went out and bought AR's because they thought some Yahoo was going to take them all away.

It just goes to show that some people will believe anything. BUt at the same time its always smart for some of us to counter act the stupidity of them. So since some of these people are dumb enough to buy into it. Its always a good idea for me and you to make sure we are very well prepared for when it happens. This way me and you dont have any problems obtaining ammo later on because of them buying it all up. There is power in numbers. Unfortunately in todays society, the stupid people far out weigh those of us with common sense.

Not exactly. I saw plenty on the shelves during the week including just yesterday. I dont have anything that eats 7.62 and dont plan on getting anything that does. All I was doing is just announcing that local idiots are creating another shortage. Besides the .22 shortage, I can easily get my fill of 9mm and .45.

Well of course you saw Russian ammo on the shelves this week. No sanctions have been put in place yet. That comes Monday. If sanctions are put in place and it impacts the importation of Russian Ammunition then that ammo you saw this week won't be replaced and it will quickly disappear.

I was making light of all the naysayers in last weeks 7.62 post who claimed the rumor was BS and there would be no shortage. The rumor probably was bunk but we knew what the end result would be. Panic buying. No way around it.

Yes most likely induced by the U.S. consumer. We will see where this leads us. I predict zip x39 will be available shortly, anywhere. Buy while you can. I took the warning and purchased heavy on brass for my 7.62x39 TC Encore.

With the current political situation concerning Russia, Ukraine, USA, etc, and if you are a AK and or Mosin Nagant shooter, why wouldn`t you stock up on ammo now?
If there aren`t sanctions or "excecutive orders" that stop the import of ammo, are you gonna be bummed that you have a case or two of extra ammo sitting around?
Sounds like more shooting fun to me....
