.22lr ammo is in short supply, but I would not pay $ 140 for a brick of 500 rounds. I have plenty already, but always look for more as it is good for trading. Talked to the Walmart sporting goods manager yesterday. He said it is starting to loosen up some.

That's about twice the price of reloading 38 or 9MM. Egads.

Picked these up last Friday at Wally World.
It was around 5:00 in the afternoon. I went in to look totally not expecting to find anything. When I saw the bulk pack, I asked the guy, "Is that .22lr ammo?" He said yes. I told him it had been so long since I had seen any, I wasn't sure. I asked him if there was a limit, duh! One to a customer. Total was $54.43 with tax. Two 500 rd bulk packs for 1000 rds total. There was one other box, which I had to leave behind. Wish I would've had someone with me to get it too. For the times, it's a decent price I suppose. I'll buy them when I can get em!

I HOPE that was an April Fools joke!
It's bad enough that they're charging about $23/500 for Thunderbolts around here, where it ought to be under $10, but at least they come into the local store fairly frequently now.

I just left the local Cabelas. As usual, there is still plenty of .22lr for cheap.

Speaking of Cabela's, I actually got some 22LR ammo there today! As I got to the shelf the clerk was putting some on the shelf. It was Federal ammo in a pop-top can filled with Nitrogen gas. It was at me very limit on price, just under 6 cents a round, 325 rounds for $18.99 with a limit of one per customer. I'm glad the wife was with me so we can get two cans... The right place at the right time, it didn't last an hour even @1 can a customer.

I got some American Eagle .22 50 count at Wally World for $2.69/box. A total of 150 rounds for less than $8 including tax. My LGS also sells bricks of Thunderbolts for around $35...

At a gun auction last Sat. someone paid $65.00 per prick for CCI Blaser .22's, and took all three bricks available at that price. Just nuts.

While the price is crazy, I have heard that Blazer 22 is actually very good ammo.... Our LGS owner swears by it (even before the ammo crunch).

Blaser ammo is good ammo but not $65 good, maybe $20 good these days and $10 good in 2008.

I would never fire another 22 round for the rest of my life if that's what I had to pay for a brick to do it.

I think you mean $30 ($27.99) good. They were more than $10 per brick in 2004 when I worked at Academy.
The Cabela's price is about the same as Walmart, so welcome to the new normal.

Wal-Mart last week had the Remington Golden Bullets, 525 rounds for $22.97 with a 3 box limit. First time I have seen 22 at this store since last year. I was told that the store would only get one case a week of 22, so with a 3 box limit, it only takes 3 or 4 customers and that ammo is all gone. My son and I got the last 3 boxes and we were happy to get it for that price. We each kept a brick and gave the other to a close friend. At the other gun stores and the ****** gun shows, we have seen 22 ammo as high as $50 to $100 for a brick of 22. I know I want ever buy any for that price. These days I just try to keep enough on hand for the grand kids to have something to shoot. I got both of them brand new Ruger 10-22's for Christmas. Their mama was mad, she thinks they are/were to young. I don't think 8 and 10 years old is to young. Ray

My Walmart has been getting in 22LR every week. One week it will be the excellent Federal 550 Bulk at $24 with a 3 box limit. The next it will be the Winchester M-22 for $52 a 1K (2 500) boxes, again you can buy 3 1K boxes. And lastly I've seen Remington Golden bullets which I avoid. The trick is being in the store when thy put it on the shelves because it'll be gone soon after.

GMountain ammo
I did not find out about GM's sale until late Friday afternoon. When I arrived I bought the Federal blue box of 50 for $2.43 per box. Total cost for 10 boxes was $24.30 plus sales tax. I was more excited about the Blazer Brass .45 acp for $19.99 per box of 50.

A 50 count box of Blazer 45ACP for $19.99 is a deal I would jump all over especially brass cased ammo.

U may want to save that 375rd box of mini-mags for last. Because they dont make them anymore. Now all they make is a 300rd box and it cost more.

The 40gr solids are one of the few bulks we've found that will cycle my wife's Mosquito. It's also very accurate in our 10/22s. IMO it's one of the best bulks going.
That Winchester M22 is also some pretty good stuff. Lot's of haters though, so more for me! It does have a recall out for a couple of different lots so might be good to check the inside flap.

I recently purchased a Ruger Mk III. Oddly enough, that stupid thing LOVES the Thunderbolts - very consistent velocity over the chrono and I shot a 2" 20 shot group from a rest with a 2x Leupold EER mounted...at 100 yds! I was shocked and thought it a fluke. Next time out - same results. It will be interesting to see if the other brick I have from a different lot is anywhere near as good.

Scored at Dicks sporting goods
They usually get a shipment in every Thursday morning got these today for 24.95 only allow 1 per customer , that's ok with me they had 4 cases. They also had Federal 22lr in cans 300 for 20.00. As long as they are not Winchester, they are the worst they jammed in my Henry lever action and in a friends bolt action Dicks is the only place that don't rip you off

I'm glad you got some ammo at a price you are happy with. I must admit, this is probably the first time I have ever heard anyone say that Dick's Sporting Goods is not overpriced! I look at it like any other store... know what a good price is for the item you are looking for.

Compared to the Gun shops around here their prices are much lower about six weeks ago I was able to pick up a 1400 rd bucket of goldens for 69.95 the local GS wanted 99.95 , 100 primers 50.00 , 35.00 at a gun show in PA I live near Atlantic City they just started construction on the new Bass Pro shop should be done in about one year, maybe some competition will make them see what good gouging does them!

scored some .22 ammo and kitty litter
was shopping for some kitty litter at the local Fleet Farm today - found several boxes of Winchester .22 LR stashed in the the kitty litter.
$2.99 / bag for the kitty litter and $14 for a 333 round box of LR (limit of 1 per customer per day).
Either a sloppy job of stocking or someone is hiding ammo and creating their own private "stash"

I picked up 3 of the 325 round boxes of Remington .22lr at Walmart the other day for less than $ 40. Sounds like a lot, but for these days is a fairly good price. I have plenty but pick up any I can to use for trading.

Good for you! Of course sometime somewhere someone will find the exact same item on-line or perhaps at Walmart for sale at somewhat better price. So what? Glad to see you got .22 LR ammo at what is now for the vast majority of folks the new normal price.

At the Tulsa gun show in April, 22lr was all over, pallets to tables full. Price was all over as well from a low of 65 to a high of 105. If I didn't have a single round I would not pay those prices. I wish no one would and this would straighten out.
When people complain about how expensive it is at Walmart, you know there is a new normal.

The LGS in Northern Indiana has had 22lr for 4 months now. Brands vary was .10 cents a round, now .08. I called Remington in Lonoke AR and the addition to double 22lr ammo will be up and running in a month. BiggB
