Doing my hunt for zombies at Walmart I saw one lone box of strange .380 ammo "Tulammo" (?). The sales person said it had alum cases. Is this decent ammo?

I've never saw the tulammo in 380, but have shot the steel case 9mm and it's always functioned fine, but it is pretty dirty.

It worked great in my ruger lcp and lc380. Wouldnt cycle in my colt mustang xsp

I like the Tula in about every caliber, except .380 ACP. It really makes my .380's bind up...too dirty with the powder residue.

We tried one box in my wifes BG380 and two out of the box snapped but fired on the second trigger pull. She has used several boxes each of Winchester, Independence (spl), PMC and American Eagle and never had a problem. Larry

I have used it in my 1910 Browning, with no problems. It is Russian and steel cases and not reloadable.

I have had an issue with a box of Tulammo .380 I tried (back in July 2013). In the course of shooting a number of different rounds through a new-to-me Browning/Beretta/FN BDA, I shot some some Tulammo 91-gr FMJ. I expected blah performance. Similar ammos had been running from 950 to 1050 fps from this gun on this trip; I anticipated the Tula would be on the lower edge of that range. The range was 90°F and at 5950'>sea level, about 10% humidity. The chrono had been working perfectly with a half dozen previous types of ammo.

My first shot with the Tula read 1422 fps.

This struck me as crazy; certainly an error. No way that happened, right?

So, I erased the shot and took another.

1229 fps. Then 1186.

Then 1412.





I took the ammo out of the mag, and proceeded to a WWB load, which chrono'd perfectly reasonably. Just for kicks, I ran some known-performance .22s thru the SR22 - the chrono was working fine.

Soooooo . . . I sealed up the Tulammo and thinking I might try it later in my locked-breech LCP. I never have: I speculate that the bo received a 9x19 charge in the Russian factory.

The gun in which I shot the problem ammo was none the worse for the wear - I fired another 50 or so rounds through it after that, with fine results. The velocity spread of those four rounds was pretty amazing, all things considering, but then so were the velocities.

I've not heard of this before, and most Tulammo I've used has been pretty ******. Maybe this was just a bad lot. Heck, maybe I ought to measure the bullets to makes sure they didn't slip in some .363" Mak bullets - I don't know if those would cram into a chamber (I doubt it), but I'd imagine that would raise pressures a bit.

I had tried another box (and probably another lot) through the LCP on an earlier excursion (c. 58 degrees F, same range, 20% humidity), and got totally expected wimpy results:

Tula 91-gr ball/steel case: M 883.3/ES 120.0/SD 47.56

Anyway . . . just thought you might be interested in hearing this tale.

The dirtiest ammo I have ever shot. Some pistols won't shoot it. My wifes Glock 42 being one of them. Great price point, but for pennies more I shoot the Perfecta or Winchester White Box.

I've shot 9mm Tula brass (under a couple of different names) without any real problems. I've shot Tula steel cased 5.56 and it turned my Bushmaster AR15 into a single shot rifle. Cases just stuck in the chamber.

Picture an AR15/Schmidt Rubin straight pull rifle.

I'd consider any Tula ammunition to be nothing better than range fodder.

I don't shoot steel case, and have never seen it in aluminum. The BrassMax version, if "Made in Italy", runs fine in my 9 & 45. The "Made in Bosnia" versions make **** a compliment.

I wanted to buy some bulk 2.23 online and saw the Tulammo for $220/1000. I googled "does the S&W M&P AR 15 like Tulammo" and found several videos of guys who use it predominantly and loved it, so I bought it. Btw, my LGS also carries it and has good things to say about it. Now I admit I only had time to shoot 60 rounds of it but it was fine. No errors at all. Thank god because I have 940 more rounds of it.'

I shoot thousands of rounds of Wolf and Tula a year. Since 1998 I've only ever had 4 problems. I shot it in Lugers, 1911s, AKs, ARs, Glocks, CZ, Sig, Remington,....that's just what I can remember. Yes they are dirty but why do you clean your gun to begin with? I hqve cases of this stuff. Only thing is I've never owned a 380

Like he said, it doesn't work at all in my Kahr CW380. May work in other calibers, but not in my .380

today i'm buying ammunitions from 7.62x51 Nato military origin, the mark is MEN from Germany. ammunition from surplus German Army and were manufactured in 1994, but stored in good conditions.
why I bought this ammunition? 1 for the price, 2 for manufacturing quality,
thick bushes and Boxer primers .she can therefore relooding beings.
my question is do you think that 20 years storage can affect the quality of these cartridges?

I have shot it in my LCP with no problems. It is my carry firearm and I oftenuse tula to warm up on. Also have used it for 9mm, 40 S&W and 223. Never a problem for me. If I am shooting in tall brush I put tula in so I dont worry about losing brass.

I would not have any concern about 20 year old ammo unless there are signs of corrosion, water (stains on cartons), or external damage (dents and the like).

I shot three boxes of Tula 380 out of my Glock 42 and had no issues at all. My favorite Russian ammo is silver bear I just bought a 1000 rounds of 380. As for Russian ammo being dirty, who cares it's range ammo. All ammo is dirty that's why I clean my guns when I'm done shooting. I don't care if I only shoot 50 rounds of the cleanest most expensive ammo out there, I still clean my guns and save money to boot.

Just an hour ago I pulled all the Tula 9mm brass cases out of
the range brass my brother gave me.
When I went to de-prime the cases they were a lot harder to do
than the other mixed cases. Had to add more case lube, just to
be on the safe side.

They must work ok, since he shoots a lot of it on the CHP range
as well as any other ammo that they have on hand.

I stay away from all steel cases or other off the wall stuff. Just
brass or nickel for all of my shooting.
